meh the owners and the BOT were more than happy to pad their wallets and the GMs were the ones that made those side deals that acted as multipliers on already tough expansion draft rules...
i wonder if Seattle will get the same rules or will the NHL owner balk at giving the new team wide access to their rosters...

I'm sure the rules will be the same but the GMs will be less likely to deal players in order to protect other ones. They'll just let the chips fall where they may.

I don't think they'll change the rules. Too many of these players were explicit decisions by the GM's of other teams, it's not like they had players they tried to protect pilfered.
In terms of the NHL perspective. This is perfect. Instant fan investment in an expansion market? They'll do that every time.

Are you kidding me? Even after the draft everyone expected them to be terrible. Vegas deserves full credit for this not the draft process.

I can’t believe we’re still debating the expansion draft. Was there a single poster on CP, or anywhere on the Internet, that thought wow, that’s a team that’s good enough to go the Final?
Honest question, was anyone thinking this might happen? Maybe Vegas just deserves credit for what they’re doing.

the rules for the expansion draft had been changed since the previous expansion draft when Columbus and Minnesota entered the league.
The statement has nothing to due with not "giving credit" to LGK...it was a question on whether the league will modify expansion draft rules, something that they have done since the previous expansion draft.
