Cool. At least we have no history of them being a problem for us.

Switzerland and Sweden win.

Semifinals on Saturday:
  • USA vs Sweden (7:15am MT)
  • Canada vs Switzerland (11:15am MT)

Gaudreau vs Backlund means a Flame will play for gold.

Are you talking about former Oiler and current Canuck Anders Nilsson? Let in two easy ones today (well three if you count the non goal).

Connor McDavid has a gross neck-beard that makes him look like a caveman.

That is all.

Haha yeah, right as I made that post, he let in a stinker to make it 3-2. It was more commentary on how bad the goaltending has been for Team Canada though.

True, Kuemper and McBackup have been worse. Seems none of the top teams have great goaltending this tournament though.

If we get Hiller I predict a Swiss victory.

With all the McJesus hype I am glad that he showed up and got multiple points against one of the better teams.

Prior to his 3 point outing against Russia he got 9 points vs Korea, Denmark and Norway. 3 Points against Latvia and Germany. 1 point against US and Finland.

Why?

I tend to find that theres very little information to be gained from the WHC, its just difficult to compare it to anything.

Then again, McDavid acquiring marshmallow points pretty much defines his career at this juncture.

3 powerplay assists isn't exactly awe inspiring though. Compare that to Kane who was THE difference maker for the US with two amazing goals.
McDavid so overhyped.

Just wanted to mention;

With that loss to the Swiss, Finnish head coach Lauri Marjamäki became the first head coach of Team Finland in 30 years to not make the top three in any tournament. (With the World Cup and the Olympics he also had more tries than most.)

Next they're bringing back Jukka Jalonen, who coached Finland to gold in 2011 (men) and 2014 (U20).

There is a touch of sarcasm with my comment.

Dubois really impresses me, you can see why Columbus picked him 3rd overall and passed on Poolparty.

Alex Barabanov is a 23 year old RW with a NHLe of 29, who has scored 8 points in 8 games in the tournament and scored 6 points in 7 games in the WJHC. He shoots left, which is not great. However, at this point, our RW depth is so bad I feel obliged to scan the bottom of the barrell for options.

Does anyone know if he was drafted? Does anyone know if he would ever be willing to leave Russia? Does anyone know what type of player he is?

Looks like Barabanov was undrafted and currently has a contract with one more season in the KHL

He’s going to be a great hockey player. He hits, he’s fast, and has a very high hockey IQ.

It's funny that the CBJ were thought to have completely shuffled the start of that draft, when really they were just taking the superior player. Edmonton couldn't pass on JP, which irked many of us. We always knew that Vancouver's draft choice was questionable.

It's too early to count anybody out, especially defencemen, but I still can't believe how well that draft has worked out so far. Not just because we got a stud, but with Edmonton and Vancouver ahead of us, they both passed on Tkachuk for players who so far look questionable for their draft positions.

I still think the only real problem with Puljujärvi is he got drafted by Edmonton.
