If any of you have a wife named Laurel, I need you to start calling her Yanny. For science.

On my work computer I hear Laurel clear as day.
On my iPad at home I hear Yanny.

This is super simple. Laurel dominates the lower frequencies and Yanny dominates the highs.
To demonstrate, just take your mobile phone and go to the lowest volume while playing the loop. Slowly increase the volume with the side buttons until you get to max volume.
I bet it goes from Yanny to Laurel because at low volumes, most phones don't reproduce the low frequencies or at least, don't produce them at a level you can hear properly.
If you hear it on one devices versus another, its probably because of the same issue, how different devices reproduce the highs or lows.

Yup - on my desktop it is clearly Yanny, but as I turn up the volume it eventually goes to Laurel.

Its a life lesson, I hear Laurel and can't fatham that it actually says Yanny so anyone that hears that must be lying or something. We don't understand what the other person hears so we assume they are wrong for it.

I tested 5 people individually at my office without telling them what the two sounds were. The 4 older people (60s, 2 women, 2 men) all heard yanni or yammi. The one younger person (30s, man) heard Laurel.

On the link I posted, when I adjust it all the way over to the Yanny side, I also hear it as Yammy.
We listened at work yesterday and everyone heard Yanny so it wasn't so shocking. Today, we listened to the adjusted one and some of us heard Yanny and some Laurel. That's when it is weird - when two people standing beside each other say they hear something totally different.

Listened to it with a group of people at the same time and volumes.
Mixed reviews, but for me it's 100% Laurel.
