Love watchin the Bolts come unravelled.

Kucherov is gonna get a call from the league, doubt there is a suspension, but he will be on a very short leash.

Ovi is in beast mode....awesome to see.

Yeah. Somewhere earlier in the thread someone said neither of these teams look like they could be the west. Caps look like they're going to make it look like childs play.

It'll be a sweet final whoever comes out of the west but if I had money, Id put it on the Caps if they come out of the East.

Seriously, what a sleeper team. They're one of those teams where I just never had faith in them going into the playoffs. Unreal regular season team that would crumble in the playoffs. This year they weren't even on my radar as a possibility since they always it felt like they were on the decline. Impressive.

I predicted Caps in 5, but now I want a sweep, and I want the Caps to really kick the Lightning's butts in doing so.

I'm glad I didn't put that 300 down on the Jets. The Caps look good too. Real good. I'm just not a gambler.

I've been watching the caps playoff runs since 2010 and I can honestly say I've never seen them play this well in any series. I don't want to jinx anything yet, but the team has been on a different level since the playoffs began. The only time they looked like the Caps of old was in the Pittsburgh series for those two games. The games in Columbus, even though they lost they've dictated a bunch of the play and deserved a much better fate (probably would have won if this version of Holtby had stared the series).

There is something totally different with this team. All four lines are firing on all cylinders and all four lines are dangerous. Their breakouts from defensive zone and transition game are a treat to watch.

Kucherov should be suspended for that kick. Absolute bush league garbage.

I really want to see ovie lift the cup this year. It's a great story line.

The team is winning over hearts and minds with how they're winning and who they're beating.

We've seen this act before. Time warp here back to 2003, the Capitals were up 2-0 in the series against the Lightning as Washington won both games convincingly (3-0 and 6-3 respectively) in Tampa Bay. I hate the Bolts, but, the Capitals don't have a great history. Tampa Bay is a good road team and unfortunately I see this series tied 2-2 come Thursday night. The Capitals will prevail in 6 games.

Given that it’s a Washington team, shouldn’t it be a “perfect Stormy”?

After the first two games of the first round we were discussing Trotz as a head coaching candidate as it felt like almost certainty that the Capitals wouldn't bring him back. Just goes to show the slim margins these coaches have to work with as if an OT goal goes the other way in that Blue Jackets series he's probably unemployed today.

We have taken for granted how good this Caps team has been in the regular season as for whatever reason they always seemed to play tight in the playoffs. Like a team that was expecting something to go wrong and was playing not to lose. This season they look like they are just going out there having fun and executing. It's also kind of an underrated roster as the more you watch them the more you realize they have impressive depth. I remember many of us not being a fan of that Kuznetsov contract but he looks like he's worth that money. Really good player.

Trotz is likely done with the caps when they win the cup or lose out. Word is he wants to retire. He doesn't have a contract after this season.

At 55? After making relatively small money compared to other coaches of similar quality? If he wins the cup I bet he's in for a huge payday on his next contract, especially if he agrees to a short one. NYR will pay him at l3ast $4M per year for two or three years.

They were saying he has coached every year since 1985 on the radio and he was leaning towards retiring. I could see him trying to cash in though.

Didn't Friedman read Trotz's lips during the handshake after the Caps-Jackets series and he said something like "I'm done" to Torts? Pretty sure he denied it (of course he would) but he may have had enough. Not like he can't afford to retire.

I know he doesn't have a contract which is why I said "the Capitals wouldn't bring him back" over firing him. But I assumed his long term standing with the club depended on how they faired in the playoffs this season. Seems on the young side for a coach to retire but maybe he feels he's done enough and wants to spend time with his family.
