I'm sure Durant would be happy to return the $70k as long as Als send him his $150k. Sounds fair. No?

What the hell does whatever the Als did, have to do with what the Bombers are on the hook for?

Let me ask you a single question,

What did Durant do to earn that 70K?

It's a 9 team league, a tightly knit group, you don't think players remember? Of course his motivation stems from what the Als did, if the Als don't cut him then he gets his bonus and the bummers episode never takes place.

For one, I'm sure he's been studying the playbook/watching film/staying in shape and keeping in contact with bummers, maybe even working with their new players/QBs etc. So just to say he didn't do anything would be a wrong assumption.

Anyways, you have your view and I have mine on this topic, neither is about to change. It's nice out, have an awesome sunny sunday!

Staying in shape? LOL.

Maybe working with players...where? Nothing I have read suggests he even had contact with other players or the team once he signed his "contract" to play football.

All players study the play book over the winter and I don't expect they all collected 70K for doing so., nor do any of them expect it.

Again..what a hero.

Good grief.

He never intended to play for them. That much is obvious now. Hell, in his retirement announcement, (that he didnt tell the Bombers he was going to do), he didnt even mention them. No "thanks for the opportunity but ive come to a different decision". No, it was all about being a Rider and bleeding green yadda yadda. He waited til he got a deal with a signing bonus and then cut bait. Weak ass stuff and shows zero character or integrity.

He is either a thief or a con man or both. Nice legacy and a terrific example to set for his children whom he says this was to spend more time with. I sincerely hope the Bombers go after him legally and they win it back + court/legal costs. He screwed them on the salary cap and they released players to fit him in.

I hope the CFL banishes him for good.

But you go on defending him like he didnt do anything wrong.

Uh, he signed a contract that guaranteed 70k if on the roster at a certain point. You're completely out to lunch on this one and letting your blind hatred of certain things run out of control again. I'm a bomber fan and have little issue with Durant on this move.

It wasn't a roster bonus..it was signing bonus. A signing that included at least trying to play football for Winnipeg this year. They released other players to make room for him...maybe those guys should go after Durant? This bonus also counts against their salary cap as little as it is in the grand scheme.

What am I blindly hating?

People taking money they have not earned? OK...guilty as charged.

This sets a very very bad precedent in a league that simply cant afford this kind of stuff.

But sure, Im out to lunch.

So it was a signing bonus, he signed the contract and deserves the bonus. What are we missing here? You said it yourself it was a signing bonus and thats why he deserves to keep it.

Bad precedent? what part of teams have been doing this to players (in a league where there are no guaranteed contracts) do you not understand? Players have every right to do this. Its the bummers who signed a 35 year old QB and gave him a signing bonus, maybe they should've put that in the contract, "if you retire you give back the bonus."

Adam Bighill has been released by the New Orleans Saints - Does he return to the CFL (and likely the Lions?)

The New Orleans Saints have released former CFL all-star linebacker Adam Bighill.

Bighill suited up in three games for the Saints in 2017 recording one tackle after making the practice squad out of training camp. Bighill signed a reserve/futures contract with the Saints in January but he was let go on Monday.

Probably not until he runs through the rest of the NFL opportunities first, so I wouldn't really expect to see him in Camp.

With all of the retirements from the Stamps they should have a bunch of payroll room, but one area that they're really deep in is Linebacker.

If Bighill comes back north, I can’t see him signing anywhere but BC. Hes married to a girl from Vancouver.

Montreal is comedy central these days.

Also, Kahlil Carter and Tommie Campbell got into a dressing-room dispute during last November’s Grey Cup — one that might even have resulted in blows being exchanged

"There was no family issue. He doesn't play well with others," a source told the Gazette about Carter's stint as defensive co-ordinator.

Kahlil Carter’s brief tenure as the Alouettes’ defensive co-ordinator was marred by personality clashes and conflicts that ultimately led to his undoing, a source has told the Montreal Gazette.

And yet, Carter continues being defended by those who hired him. And that’s what is making this story murky, almost a week after the organization announced Carter was returning to Iowa for personal reasons, but would remain as a regional scout.#

“He has been fired for a month. There was no family issue. He doesn’t play well with others,” said the source who, given the delicate nature of the announcement made so close to the start of training camp this Sunday, requested anonymity.

“They say he’s on a power trip,” the source added. “He thought he was above everyone. He told everyone he was their boss and they had to do what he said. He was not respectful … and is very confrontational. He will never be the defensive co-ordinator for the Montreal Alouettes.”

Last Thursday, the Als made the shocking announcement about Carter, who joined Mike Sherman’s staff after three seasons as Calgary’s defensive-backs coach. Carter, 41, had an 11-year career as a DB, including time in the CFL with Toronto and Montreal.#

Rich Stubler, 68, who was hired by the Als as an adviser to Carter, was named the new defensive co-ordinator. The organization said Carter was becoming a regional scout and was returning home for family reasons. He’s the father of four daughters. In an interview with 3Down Nation, Carter said his two-year contract was being honoured by the Als with no reduction in salary

More than one source has told the Montreal Gazette Carter and Campbell got into a dressing-room dispute during last November’s Grey Cup — one that might even have resulted in blows being exchanged.

“It never made sense the two were going to work together. The football players I know don’t put that stuff behind them,” a different source said. “They never seemed to patch things up after that, although money changes everything.”

“Everyone in the league knew about that fight. He (Campbell) won the fight,” the first source said. “Maybe if he had lost. If the coach beats you up … but if you beat a coach up and they offer you the most money to go be with that coach — and you kicked his ass already — you’re going to probably have some power in the room.”

I think that fight comes from Tommy's terrible coverage decision on the long touchdown by Toronto where he took outside leverage on a inside route instead of taking inside leverage and using the sidelines as another defensive back.

But I'm not surprised that Carter blew his top, he had a reputation for that here.

I'm interested in seeing how this works out. if we get the Manziel that can use his feet and make plays out of nothing this works out well as it brings a key skill set to the CFL team.

The CFL needs more QB's not less,
