McAvoy from Larkin and Kreider, so it looks like that's the 5-on-5 line.

USA up 4-1 after 1. Three point period for Johnny.

I don't think Gaudreau took a shift after getting slashed on the hand. Although, the US had a lot of PP time earlier in the period and he was out for most of it, so they may have just been resting him.

I was out for the last hour, but don't expect there was an intermission tribute to the untouchable greatness of Johnny Gaudreau.

RIP Johnny's hands.

He's back out there but it's crazy how often they do him dirty like that.

Is Gaudreau back out there? Not on that last PP and I don't think I've seen him this period.

Didn't he start wearing new/specialized gloves last year? I guess those new gloves aren't helping much.

He was at the beginning of the period but I took a call and haven't watched since then.

He only wore those gloves while still recovering from his broken finger injury, and then returned to his usual gloves once it had completely healed.

Gord Miller has suggested that Ray Ferraro use this game to hone his play-calling skills. Ferarro is calling the game now.

Hilarious.

12-1 for the Americans now. Still 8 minutes left.

Tight game. Real nail-biter.

Umm, McAvoy is a defenseman?

You guys were right about McCollum, I totally forgot about him, it's been a while... I am thrilled to see what Johnny can do in the eliminaton games. Missing the playoffs sucks, but this tournament can provide some great hockey experience in those must-win matches agaist great players. I am really glad he went there.

Makes you wonder why teams like Korea are in this pool. The difference in talent level between these two teams is ridiculous.

Yeah, I noticed that later. He was playing deep on the PP which confused me.

13-1 final. Gaudreau with no points on the final 10 USA goals, so he finishes with the 3.

I was looking at the rosters on the IIHF website (what a bad site that is for trying to find stats) and noticed that we had missed one more Flame who's over in Denmark for the Worlds. Mark Depasquale is the Equipment Manager for Team USA.

I believe he's the one who rigged up the extra padding on Johnny's glove last season, so he might have to do the same at the Worlds.

Sure, but the bar for qualification must be pretty damn low for teams of that caliber to get in. There's nothing remotely fun about watching a team get embarrassed 13-1. (unless it's the Oilers of course)
