well now that they have gotten this far, they might as well lose in game 7 in OT of the cup final.
So go Jets for now?

Underdogs is an understatement. That had to be the worst team to ever make a cup final. Darryl is a god.

For me cheering for the Jets would be the exact same thing as cheering for Edmonton or Vancouver...cause they are based in Canada.

Never.
Jets were in the Smythe for ten seasons. Their last few seasons before they moved were in the central. Probably most people on here have no memory of them being division rivals.

11 actually. Plus 2 or 3 years before the Flames moved to Calgary. Its hard to fathom that the Flames spent a year in a division with the Islanders, Rangers, Flyers and Capitals that first season.

But fair enough. I still hate them regardless of what division they were in.

when i grew up in wpg, i can recall a few yrs where the jets had a rpetty good team; however, them getting to round 3 generally invovled beating both of the flames and the oilers - not an easy task back them.

despite growing up in wpg, i was never a jets fan as i never had the chance to go to many games, and it was a miricale of a jets game was on tv; however, that being said, i hope that they wind up playing tampa for the cup.

Only Calgarians actually believe this my friend. And it is very Toronto-esque of you to think this way

i don't think there is anything dumb about being patriotic. Nor is there anything dumb about hoping Bettman and Daly have to present the Cup to the fans of Winnipeg - 20 years after looking the other way and greasing the wheel to allow the team to move to the sunbelt where they could line their pockets with money.

Nah, ###### the Jets.

Go Vegas! And then go Caps in the final.

Jets have more of my favorite (non Flames) players than any other team in the league.
I have always maintained that if the Flames are out, I would be happy to see them win.

And now that they are one round away from cup final, it turns out I was wrong.
#### the Jets.

Why would you be patriotic to Winnipeg unless you are from there?

Screw em.

It was mostly the Red Mile that gained the national attention. I had family calling me from overseas, who I don’t communicate with often and who don’t watch hockey, and they were asking about the Red Mile.

The Divisions really didn't mean anything that season. Every team played 4 games against every other team and the playoffs were a 1-16 ranking.

The Divisions and Conference were completely meaningless.

Thats true.

It was the best playoff format ever as well.

Also that was the year the Jets were the worst team in the history of the league IIRC.

I remember a buddy of mine in California telling me that he and some of his co-workers got busted at work looking at the Flames girls website.

Patriotism has nothing to do with the NHL. This isn't the Olympics. It's all about individual teams. I didn't become a Flames fan because they were based in a Canadian city. I became a fan because I liked Theo Fleury. And I don't feel like I'm more Canadian because I happen to cheer for a team based in a Canadian city.

Holy crap, they had more ties than wins: 9-57-14 for 32 points.

It was a unique playoff run for many reasons and the country got behind the Flames.

If you don't remember it like that, well that is your problem.

Two fast teams.
Good Goalies on both
Crazy fans
Great atmospheres

Winnipeg to me has an edge in the physicality department so does LV dress Reaves?

The winner of the series is the future Stanley cup winner as I don't think either the bolts or caps have what it takes .

The Jets are going to be good for a while. This is Vegas' year. Making the Cup final would be pretty special. Go Knights.
