Darian Durant retires.
Of course he didnt tell the Bombers he was doing this, and they found out on social media, and also after he took a 70K bonus from them.
Such weak character.

Character almost as weak as releasing a guy just days before he’s due a big bonus and we all know that never happens in the cfl...oh wait, yes it does, all the time.
Or announcing cuts without telling the guy personally. Or releasing a guy without telling him personally.

Nice try but that is false equivalency.
If that happens, that player has an opportunity to go out and get another position elsewhere.
How do the Bombers replace a veteran QB without spending a bunch more money that he stole from them?
He is a putz, end of story and I hope the Bombers sue him for the bonus money as it was paid in good faith that he would be in camp in 2 weeks. He just took 70K from them without ever providing a second of play/practice or anything else.
Another loser from the Riders, no more and no less.

Statement from the Bombers
Quote:
“We were informed prior to the start of our mini-camp that Darian Durant, along with his family, was reconsidering continuing his career. Given the magnitude of this decision, we asked him to take the time to thoroughly consider his options and inform us of his decision.
Ultimately, Darian has not informed the team of his decision, but we were notified through social media this morning that he has decided to retire from professional football. While we respect his decision, we are of course are extremely disappointed. Until recently, Darian had given us every indication that he was accepting of his role as a backup and prepared to help our offence in any capacity possible. We recognize this has been a challenging and difficult process for Darian, and the uncertainty has been challenging from our perspective as well. We will move forward with the quarterbacks we currently have on our roster.”
|
this is what Durant said 3 months ago
Quote:
“I don’t think it will be difficult at all,” he told BlueBombers.com. “When I first started my career, I was a practice squad guy and then I was a third-stringer and then I was a back-up. So I had to work my way up. I think everybody on the team has a role and I’m looking at this as ‘where can my talents be best served’ and I felt like coming in and helping Matt and being a security blanket for him, helping out in short-yardage and just being around Coach LaPo and a good environment just made it an easy decision for me.”

Lol. He didn’t steal it. If they didn’t want to pay it I guess they shouldn’t have agreed to do it before the season started. You think teams give a #### if a player has just bought a place or moved his family when they release him after 9 games to avoid paying his full contract?
Just a garbage bs post from you. Pathetic and sad.

LOL..what?
They did want to pay it him....as evidenced by the fact that is what they did.
They also required him to fulfill his part of the contract to receive that $70,000.
Not sure what part of this you cannot grasp.
So is it the Bombers responsibility to make sure everyone who buys a house (strange thing to bring up) receive 70Kfor doing nothing as well. I mean Joe Plumber in Winnipeg has provided as much to that club as Dummy Durant has, so should they give him money too?
Did ya need some tissues over there skippy?

Durant with a real classless move. Couldn't even bring himself to phone the team or send them a text. Pure garbage.

Its too bad a player can do this to a team. Happens all the time though. Maurice Price did the same thing to the roughriders 2 years ago as well after he got traded and signed an extension.

Haha. I think I enjoy this even more with how butt hurt you are about it.
Durant didn’t do anything wrong. He got money that was owed to him. He didn’t break any rules. He can retire whenever he wants. Just like the team can release him whenever they want.
Although I guess you were equally devastated when Montreal did the exact same thing to him, screwing him out of $150k and didn’t fulfill their contract.

To play football..what part of this are you unable to grasp?
Butthurt? Nope. I hate the Bombers. I just hate liars and users more. He is both and the league is better off with him slithering his way back to South Carolina.
Montreal didnt fulfill their contract? Was it guaranteed? If not, then they did absolutely nothing wrong. Full stop. If it was guaranteed then he will be able to collect that from them in full. That's how contracts work.
Of course he can retire whenever he wants, and truthfully it will likely be a blessing in disguise in the long run that he does. He sucks. That however does not include waiting until you get a signing bonus that is given for playing football for the team that pays you, and then deciding you don't want to play. He wanted the money for doing nothing. He is a giant loser, which considering where he spent most of career should surprise no one.

Dariant Durant received a $70K signing bonus. The #Bombers have asked for it back and Durant has said no. #wfp

You are just dead wrong on this, but watching you flail for justification is amusing...please keep going. Especially about having to worry about a guy that bought a house.
LOL!

Well now he can go and overthrow his kid during their father and son game
(I don't know if he has a kid but)
Durant Jr - "Hit me dad I'm open"
Ball sails 20 yards over his head and hits him mom in the face
Durant Jr - "You suck dad"

Unfortunately Winnipeg won't be getting their money back as they would be laughed out of court for being idiots

The Judge laughed when I told him my client had sex with identical twins (not at the same time), and therefore DNA tests could not prove paternity.

Lifetime Suspension

Durant told Winnipeg he was thinking about retiring. After speaking to them he agreed he would take time to think about and then let them know.
That's not what he did instead posting it on his website. Classless not to inform your employer first before doing it.
Durant won't repay his 70 thousand dollar signing bonus? Good, how many times do teams screw the players?

The honourable thing (IMO) would have been for him to return the $70k. But if Durant wants to say f—- it and never return to the CFL, then I guess that’s his choice.

So Als cut Durant in order to not pay him $150k bonus as do many teams with many players all the time (I'm sure bummers have too).
Durant retires after receiving his bonus, but its the honourable thing for him to return his bonus? Ya I don't think so.
Not a Durant fan but always happy to see players on the right of equation especially in the CFL. Good for him!

Yup...Durant sure earned that money. The Bombers get...a signature from him. What a deal for 70K!
He's a freakin hero.
