OEL tries 80's equipment
I didn't see this here but thought it was hilarious
wooden stick the old shin pads the skates from the 80's
https://www.aftonbladet.se/tv/a/252154
biggest no surprise he went from a 92 mph slapshot to 69 mph
He looks like a wobbly kid skating out there.

Ahh the days of wooden sticks, drivers, and tennis racquets.

I'd love to see modern players playing in 60s equipment...

Could you find 60's equipment that could fit most modern players?

I wonder what speed MacInnis could have gotten with a 2018 stick. He tried the early composites but switched back to wood because of breakage. Those sticks were nowhere near as good as the ones today. He got to 100 mph with a wooden stick. I think he'd beat that by at least 5 mph.

Could you imagine with the amount of players that block shots today if he could play today with a new stick?

At the same given flex the wood stick should produce faster shots than with composite due to increased load time of the wood stick. Composite sticks provide a faster release than wood and the release fools many people into believing that they produce a faster shot. The reason for the decrease in speed was probably more of a matter of using a non-tapered flex as opposed to a tapered flex (which is how practically all composite sticks are made now) and not compensating for the torque of the wood shaft (the shaft twists on its axis in addition to bending) which causes the blade to turn while releasing the puck.

now if they could get a few modern goalies to try and play in 80's equipment, especially after 2 period of play, people might understand how hard it was back then.

Bobby Hull letting a ripper go with modern equipment would be something to see.

Bobby Orr with today's skates, and today's knee surgery's.
Mike Bossy with today's sticks.
Or reverse it
Gaudreau with an 80's stick. He wouldn't be able to raise the puck. He'd take his Titan TPM 2020 and use the blow torch and door to achieve his optimum curve like we did in Bantam's back then. A massive hook you could slide a quarter under.

That, or it's a really old stick that probably isn't in the best of shape.
