I thought that there should be a note on his passing, Charlie was a naturalist that spent more of his time hanging out with Grizzly Bears. He tried to dispel the notion that they were dangerous predators.

He was 76

Same family. Charlie Russell was Andy Russell’s son. Both of them were pretty awesome people.

Pretty ballsy hanging with bears. I'm sure plenty aren't out to kill people but it only takes one that's in an owly mood to ruin the party.

Didn't that happen to one guy that lived with Bears. He was with them for a few years and had all these videos, then one of them up and killed him.

Timothy Treadwell - Grizzly Man, managed to get his girlfriend killed as well.

I remember that. As I understand it, he was up late in the season, after the salmon run had pretty much subsided, and when bears are trying to fatten up before hibernation. It was an older bear, probably not as well equipped to fight for food with younger bears.

That Grizzly Man documentary by Herzog was about him and one of the best parts was the DVD extra that showed some of the recording of the soundtrack.

I read up on this story and while the ending is a tragedy this guy pushed the envelope and in the process got his girlfriend killed. Both needless deaths. What a horrible way to die getting eaten alive like that.
