No hits through 6. He looks very impressive so far. Feels like the only way they'll break up this no-hitter would be on some sort of flukey broken bat single or something.

He's going to do it too just to add a cherry on top of a brutal day for the Jays.

Good for him. He made that look really, really easy.
In his home country, too. He must love that.

Cool to see a Canadian throw a no no on Canadian soil.

First Canadian to throw a no hitter since 1945 and only the 2nd Canadian to ever throw a no hitter.

I'm going to assume that the bad juju will last all season, because that's just how it goes for my favorite teams

Talk about a season just evaporating. Not even a spiral, just "poof".

James Paxton throwing a no hitter was destiny after this happened.

Well if they were gonna lose, might as well be to a Canadian pitcher throwing a no-no.

Thank goodness some really good things are happening in the Jays minor league system right now. Gives something to look forward to, but man what a frustrating season so far.
This team is getting BABIP'ed to DEATH. Despite the rotation except for Happ SUCKING, and the non-stop pummeling we're taking with injuries, this team is still above .500 and really should have a much better record than it does have.
Dead last in team BABIP
4th last in opponent BABIP
Like seriously why? WHY?
And the ####tiest part is that the three best young pieces we had on our MLB pitching staff this year have all gone to complete and utter crap. Sanchez, Stroman, and now Osuna and his arrest may never suit up for the Jays again.
Luckily Gurriel has looked good, and I do see potential in our young(ish) group of outfielders.
Hopefully the luck starts to turn a bit here.

Yeah I find myself pretty interested watching the young guys' stats every day. Some potentially nice pieces coming up.
As you say, 3 potentially solid pitchers have now turned to 3 huge question marks to say the least. Kinda sad. But who knows what happens with Osuna, Stro is wildly inconsistent, and Sanhez just hasn't taken the big step I thought he would at this point.
Considering Bautista is gone, JD has been hurt, Tulo might never play again and everything else it's actually pretty incredible this team is sitting as well as they are right now.
Just want to fast forward a few years and see what Vlad Jr. & co. can bring to the table.

Last year I was thinking our really bad BABIP was just bad luck, but it seems to persist. Makes you wonder why we are still at the bottom of the league in that stat. I wonder if the hitters don't adapt to certain shifts well? Just seems to be less and less about bad luck and more about the fact that our BABIP continues to be terrible.
The bad BABIP against is easier to explain in that our defensive shifts are not great or our defensive range just isn't as good as other teams. That I can accept and understand right now.

Zero consistency this year.

Have admittedly not been watching much this season, but isn't that typically the case with Stroman? Second/Third time through the order always kills him unless he's having a day.

The jays are in a lot of trouble this year if Sanchez and Stroman cannot figure things out. I never really expected them to compete for a playoff spot but I thought they would be competitive overall. I like the youth coming into the lineup but it needs to be a little more consistent. So many guys in and out, up and down it is tough to get into a grove. Tough stretch right now.
Not sure what to think of Osuna. Tough break for the Jays and stupid move on his part. Will be interesting to see how they more forward on this one.

He has had rough patches before for sure.
But this year? He flat out sucks. Full stop. Hasn't won a game, has an ERA of almost 8, is averaging 5 1/3 ip per start, a WHIP that is closer to 2 than 1, all while throwing 93 pitches per.
Just awful.

Would be interesting to climb into a time machine and see what the Jays FO could have gotten in trades for Sanchez, Stroman and Osuna back in 2016.
Probably some pretty sizable returns I imagine.
Ah well.
