I would assume all these people would have moved aswell, moved out of their parents house. Still a good chance their parents still live in the same house and can forward the mail.

I don't see why he's wasting his time. He's enjoying doing it, and a few are getting through.
Maybe he is trying to find the people where they live now, and maybe he isn't .
The point is it's a good story, and he is doing something really nice for the people that they do get back to, so it sounds like it isn't such a waste to me.

I'm ruining the story? I merely offered a diferent point of view.

I said I admired his efforts but felt that since people move on it would be a waste of time. Kids grow up get jobs and move away from home. And yes some of the parents might not have moved are able to forward on the letter.

Growing up I used to send hockey cards to various hockey organizations in hopes they would get signed. Some were returned and others were not. Did I lose sleep over those not returned? Nope. I fully expected some would not get signed.

I think that it's a great story and very admirable of the guy. Anybody who does receive the mail will be absolutely thrilled. I would be.

That's the point.
No one would be expecting a reply 15 years later, that is what makes it a remarkable story.

My guess is not a single person is expecting a reply which really is the point of the story is it not. The guy took notice that there were people who took the time in order to write to him and what he is doing is he is in a way saying thank you for writing to him all be it 15 years later. Could he have just thrown them out - sure I guess he could have, and most people would have. But something in his character stopped him from doing that and gave him the motivation to do that much more than the average person would do.
