Do you think Carolina would bite on #2 OA and Lindholm for Hamilton and extras? Lindhom is RFA and we could lock him in for a decent term and cap. I'd go Frolik money and term on him @23 years old. And then Svechnikov!

Given Carolina's log jam of good young D men and lack of scoring forwards and I am pretty sure they wouldn't.

But literally all of it is Friedman, and he seems to be spitballing that there is interest in Hamilton from others, not that the Flames have specific interest in trading him.

Not all of it. Fan 960 guys have brought up issues with Hamilton also. From his brother to his disappearance on garbage bag day and the insinuations that followed.

Its not a ton of smoke but neither was the Bill Peters stuff at first.

Absolutely could be nothing but its May 5th and we need something to wonder about.

To be fair Brouwer could literally be laying on the ice and and the Fan guys would be like 'OMG why was Hamilton slightly out of position" then have a 15 minute segment on why Hamilton sucks.

As soon as we traded Hamilton we would be immediately looking for a Hamilton like player...so it makes no sense at all. If his brother leaving is why he would potentially be upset that limits any potential trade destinations to wherever his brother lands....and that could be the AHL.

(can't remember if he is a FA or not...Freddie that is.

I'm ok with trading anybody as long as it makes the team better. That's all I care about. So if they decide to trade Dougie just don't mess it up.

...and if they go for quantity in the return, just don't mess that up either.

...and by quantity I mean multiple YOUNG pieces with lots of upside.

If they were looking at trading both those players, I'd think the return would be better moving each separately than as a package deal.

If i were a betting man, the flames biggest move in improving the forward group will be for a top 6 c or rw that shoots right.

The playoffs have really highlighted how effective power plays have multiple right hand shots.... The flames have only 1 effective one in Hamilton. Zero at forward.

I think if Toronto works to solidify their D, it is not at the expense of one of their top forwards.

It will be a step in the wrong direction if we trade any of Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Monahan or Hamilton.

I feel the same way to a lesser extent about Bennett, Jankowski and Kulak. However if we can get a good young player back I would be more accepting of a deal including any of them. I hope we hang onto Foo, Mangiapane, Dube, Andersson, Valamaki and Kylington as well.

I'm shocked there are people who are saying that Hamilton is too much of a liability defensively but are preaching patience with Bennett. Hamilton is 24 years old and doing quite well learning the game as a defenceman. He certainly has accomplished a lot more at his position in 4 NHL seasons.
