Or it happened recently.
The article says someone could have fallen while crawling through duct work. If it happened after hours, and first thing today the toilet wasn't working there isn't much time there.

Pretty sure they could tell the gender if it happened recently.

Or they didn't have the body recovered when that tweet came out.

They might not have moved the body yet well enough to determine its gender when that information was provided. Depending on how it was positioned, they might only have been able to determine that it was an adult-sized body, but nothing further.
If you read this guy's timeline, it looks like the Fire Department had to be called in to extract the body, which was just wheeled out a few minutes ago: https://twitter.com/SammyHudes

Such a strange situation that I have a tough time cracking any joke until we know more. Gang activity and hiding people in walls or an awful freak accident death. Not the closure some family somewhere was hoping for with a missing loved one.

Agreed, I would've thought this board would be above such bathroom humour.

confirmed it's a body of a man and sounds like there was no foul play

I was really hoping there wasn't a dedicated thread on here as it's a local story with potential family reading now or later (which has unfortunately happened before with bad results on CP) and I knew how the thread would go based on the weird nature of the death. It always makes me so uneasy how disconnected we become on the internet.
Hopefully the police find the reasoning and it offers closure to the family.

If it's not a foul play then, someone, probably, decided to get into a mall from the outside, most likely, illegally, and got stuck in the wall space. Severe intoxication or overdose, perhaps, causing loss of conscience and, unfortunately, leading to death.
