Must want to sign Thornton, but he wouldn't shave his beard.

So now they'll hire Burke?

The man is 75 years old after all so this shouldn't be too much of a surprise.

Dubas is a slam dunk IMO....very outside chance that Hunter gets it if Shanahan is not sold on the young guy.

There is some speculation that Toronto will lose one of Dubas or Hunter if/when they promote one of them over the other.

If I owned a team in the NHL, I think I'd be pretty interested in a guy like Mark Hunter if he came available.

I mocked the Leafs when they hired him but he did a pretty good job in his time there.

It will be a challenging position in that market and their upcoming contract negotiations with Marner, Matthews, Nylander. GM of that market is arguably the most difficult job in the league as the coach wields more power than the GM and the media and local fans second guess every move made by the organization.

I would assume this is the reason Lou would still be part of the team as the senior adviser, some may claim Lamoriello was always cheap but fact is his strength was at contract negotiations.

I'm sure they got tired of Lou's old guy stories, and now as a consultant they only have to bring him in once a year for meetings that start with such phrases as "I'm my day" or "When Mark Hunter was no higher then my knee and a precocious little piss wagon", or "You young whipper snappers have no idea what personal grooming and suffering means"
