Outside the paint, contact was with the butt end of the stick, and he was being pushed by the defenseman.
Terrible call, IMO

That was a goal.

The only debatable part of the call is that contact was made when Jones was outside of his crease.

That’s what’s tough to me.
Marcheault is never in the crease and never actually makes contact with Jones. His arm makes minimal contact with Jones stick.
Feel like Jones made a meal of it and then got the call.
Edit: The more I see the replay the more I think that should have been a goal. Marchesault never is in the crease and Jones completely took himself out of position by lunging into him to make the save on the first shot.
Goalies get too much respect outside the blue paint.

There were seconds between the contact and the goal. How long should Jones get to recover?

Wow. Every replay shows that to be a good goal. Skate touched him? Really? That kind of glance, when it's just as likely it was the defending player that touched him, is the deciding factor for something like that? Good lord.
That. Was. A. Goal.

Yeah Jones is a bit outside the paint, but ofc he is. There was zero effort to avoid the stick of Jones.
If that happened to the Flames and that was called a good goal everyone would lose their minds.
Good Call!

If the goal occurred as Marchessault clipped Jones, then I can see that as being interference. Even with Dillon being all over Marchessault. But that's not what happened.
Instead Marchessault scores after getting into position ~2 seconds later.

And if it was the opposition's goalie and Marchessault was the Flame, everyone would lose their minds too. What's your point

I’d be more pissed off though if the Flames scored that goal and they didn’t count it.
Honestly if that was scored against the Flames I’d be just as mad a Smith for allowing minimal contact to spin him a foot and a half outside of his crease since he over sold it.

Sharks have committed a good 2-3 penalties this period and zero calls.

There was a hook there but also a bit of embellishment IMO.
I think I’d be annoyed right now if I was a Knights fan.
IMO that should have been a good goal, and I think they missed a couple of similar calls the other way.
