You guys have had more draft "success" than most teams in the NHL not named Edmonton over the past few years. Eichel was basically a top pick any other year, plus another 2nd, plus a whole bunch of top 10's, and now the first overall.

Dahlin seems to fill a big void in Buffalo. Good for them.

Yesterday Rintool was saying the Canucks would get first pick because of the hockey gods, they were due. Walker was hoping if the Canucks didn’t get the first pick he hoped it would be the Islanders with the Flames pick.
No wonder they were salty. Losers.

Buffalo seems to have a pretty solid fanbase... long suffering i might add.
hopefully this puts them over the top and into the playoffs.. though they still need to fix their goal tending situation i believe...
just happy none of the top picks went out west...
Oilers no longer winners of half of the drafts since 2010... Sub 50% now...with any luck maybe in 2022 we can say they only won 33% of the drafts since 2010

I think you're right, but I'd love to see him here. Have a feeling that 2 lines of Tkachuk and Better Tkachuk would be a decade of fun.
Maybe best to try and pick him up after it's more clear who he is. Almost would work out better for us if 2 years with Ottawa or Arizona drops his value

With the 16th overall pick the Flames choose Juuso Valimaki.

Yes, I would take a proven Travis Hamonic over an unproven Juuso Valimaki, and two yet to be named low-chance 2nd rounders.
EDIT: Besides, I don't understand how on any level this is at all comparable?

Yeah, well would you take him over Chucko? Pelech? Irving? Nemisz? What about future All-Star, sure-fire Tim Erixon?

Is Brady even bigger? Saw a pic on twitter (think it was resent) and Matt looked about the same height and thicker, Brady actually looked like a beanpole compared

I get that we are all happy the East has dominated the lottery and will get the first crack at the top talent but I’m a little surprised there’s not more uproar over how it worked out. I’ll speculate that if the opposite worked out and the west took down the top four there’d be some cocked eyebrows in the media and eastern teams. Of course there is the whole E=NG thing and the rewarding bad performance over the last decade.

Obviously things can change, but NHLe is fairly accurate and it's very clear that Brady is getting a pretty sizable bump in draft rankings due to name. And the price to pay to grab a top end draft spot is so monstrous already that you better be sure you're getting a star player.
"Hey, look at Matthew, he's an incredible pest, who puts up amazing point totals and is only getting better......and here comes the next one!!!!!". Nope.

Are you insinuating that for the first time in recorded history the Flames actually acquired the more talented brother?

To be fair, they acquired BOTH Hamiltons just to make sure.
