It's true the Oilers have no Hart, but they still have no good.

If Hall wins Edmonton will likely still raise a banner for the development of this year's Hart trophy winner. Probably be a 30 minute ceremony at the home opener with Hall highlights.

I was thinking 'champion lottery winners whose picks win Harts with other franchises before they even hit their primes'.

Am I in the minority here thinking MacKinnon should be taking home the Hart? He basically carried the Avs into the playoffs. Yes, New Jersey was bad last year too, but Colorado was on another level with their 48 point season! They DOUBLED their points this season and made the playoffs, thanks in huge part to MacKinnon finally realizing his potential.

He also missed 8 games. Was on 107 point pace.

So Nate Mac for me everyday, but I guess that's not the popular choice. Seems like Hall is going to win it.

When was the last time neither of the Art Ross or Rocket Richard winners were nominated for MVP?

Giroux should've been in there instead of Kopitar, pleased to see McKinnon and Hall are the other two nominations though.

Kopitar is underrated. He may not win but he’s as a deserving candidate as anyone else.

Theres such a thing as an 'Anti-McDavid' news writer? What did he do? Refuse to wash Connor's jock-strap?

I cant think of a negative thing said about McDavid by an Edmonton sports writer. Ever.

No Giroux? Blasphemy! Second in points. 3rd in faceoff%. Got separated from Voracek and helped make career years for his linemates Couturier and Konecny. What's a guy got to do to get respect around here.

Harkens me to the NBA where Russell Westbrook is the do-it-all ballhog in OKC and wins the MVP while better players on better teams weren't in the MVP discussion because they elevated their teammates instead.

Taylor Hall winning a trophy their golden boy wasn't nominated for would be delightful.

You'll never guess who Staples picked.

http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/ho...mpression=true

Headline is the definition of irony.

He laboured to find, or in some cases flat out create, a set of stats, which include more ingredients than Colonel Sanders recipe, to fit his narrative. Putting it into a spreadsheet to look more professional, and, commenting of having an other guy who JUST missed out in Giroux, to attempt to add some authenticity and hide the shameless bias.

Basically, all the other writers are wrong, and he is right because he's using a set of cherry picked random stats only as his basis, while other writers clearly are falling for romance novels storylines.

I actually do have to agree with this, somehow quietly Giroux had himself a hell of a season.

The faceoff % is the most telling part for me, he did a lot of the heavy lifting.

This is bad, even for him. Hmmm... let's use points as a criteria, then let's double up and use points/game, then let's make it a triple and to even strength points/game. What a homer.

It looks like 1993-94.

Gretzky won the Art Ross and didn't receive a single vote for the Hart (according to this: https://www.hockey-reference.com/awa...ting-1994.html).

The Rocket Richard Trophy didn't exist yet, but if it had, Bure would have won it. He only received 2 votes for the Hart.

How does Gretzky not get a single vote, but Arturs Irbe gets one? He didn't even have a .900 save percentage!
