b. Horrible take. Bourque's issue was a ton of physical talent, who signed a long term $3.3M deal and immediately went into sleep mode. Ferland is a guy who plays with plenty of effort (though hampered by his concussions) and wound up being given a role far above expectations, playing on a cheap a short term contract Call me when Kelly Hrudey questions his commitment.

I am not a fan of Brian Burke, but I thought his addition to the organization was a smart decision.

I have no strong feelings about this news, although I am hopeful that it signals a commitment from ownership to Treliving's autonomy in hockey operations.

It was nice for the team to have a personality like Burke around, even though he didn't say much in recent years. I'm sure it gave the organization more presence league wide in some ways. Will be a tough guy to replace. Best of luck to him.

Also. Not sure how heavy a hand Burkie had in charities but I'm sure that he provided a massive boost. 50 percent of his hockey life has been devoted to making sure his teams were represented in the community to their fullest.

I do know BB did a lot for the community supporting a number of different charities and was very generous with his time. For that I am thankful and hope that others will step in to fill that role in the city. All the best BB!!

I guarantee you that his job status had absolutely nothing to do with his appearance, it is not an "issue". He is not an IT worker in a cubical, or a sales exec for that matter. Brian Burke is in an industry that when it comes to the media side of things is more like show business, the handling of his tie was like a costume or a prop.

Don Cherry does very much the same thing with his outfits, its all a prop, a show. I have seen Don a few times after the show, he goes back to the hotel in a regular suit with his costume in tow.

It's amusing to me that you feel the need to call a stranger an idiot (in all caps no less) behind a wall of anonymity because of what he did with his tie.

It's blatantly obvious that the tie is a show piece. He wears it like that to rattle people. The NHL is in the entertainment industry. The fact that this small prop has gotten under your skin is just proof that it worked.

I remember reading somewhere that most of the suits Don Cherry wears get donated or sold at auction and the proceeds go to charity?

Therein is the hope. Treliving this season has very much become the undisputed public face of hockey operations, and what I meant to say was that my hope is for this to be a transparent depiction of what appears to be his role—free from micromanagement at higher levels.

I suspect one of the reasons Treliving purportedly worked hard to ensure his autonomy in his last contract negotiation was because he was preparing for this day. In the end, I don't see any reason to expect the worst on the heels of this announcement—especially in the light of numerous rumours regarding K. King's own uncertain future in the organization.
