I really don’t care what happens. It’s water under the fridge. If they somehow win and get dahlin it will only be a talking point for oilers fans making fun of the trade. Whatever.

Don't care if they pick Brady as I think the only reason he's getting so much hype is the last name. Good prospect sure, but nothing I will lose sleep over.

It is a sunk cost overall and not worth stressing over. I think Hamonic was better the 2nd half of the year and is the type of player they don't have enough of.
I'm not thrilled with the price paid but what's done is done.

The fall of a random ball won't cause me to think differently.
Of course you will be more upset. Everyone who calls themselves a Flames fan would be devastated if it turns out the Flames traded an even higher pick, let alone potentially a top 3 pick, for a number 4 defenceman.

I don't really care what Hamonic did for a 40 game stretch to end the year, it will be a disgusting overpayment, much more like what Edmonton gave up for a one dimensional Larsson, that is and should be viewed as one of the worst deals made recently.

.
Thanks for telling me how I feel.
Again, at this point it is the fall of a ball and if the Flames had kept the pick things would be different anyways.
So no I won't be more upset. Because it is irrational to be more upset.
Feel how you want though.

Needs to pull a Kevin Costner in Draft Day. "I want my picks back".

I'm happy for the Islanders, they deserve it if that pick is a high one. They did nothing wrong in this situation. That draft pick placement is entirely our fault and ours alone.

It would be incredibly bad luck for the Flames to pick to be first overall

2.5% chance

It’s all Gulutzan’s fault.

If they win the lottery it's going be terrible optics for Treliving and the Flames, but at the same time it will be better than having Edmonton, Vancouver or Arizona win it.

Search yourself. Get in there real nice and deep like. You know deep down that you will be upset. I will be upset. Everyone will be upset. Don't pretend like it doesn't matter now as it most certainly does. Doing so is what is truly irrational.

If it winds up with the Flames only giving up mediocre first round prospect at 12 and a two second rounders over the next two drafts it is a much more palatable deal than that of a franchise player, Rasmus Dhalin, and two second round picks.

I don't think it matters what happens with the pick. Bygones are bygones. There is risk in every transaction made in the NHL. Much like the Kessel deal in TO. Calgary got a really good defenceman that should have been better here. Is it salt in the wounds to miss the playoffs and missout on a top 3 pick - absolutely, but it doesn't matter. We have the guy we have regardless of if it is a lottery pick or not.

The worst case is:

1)Oilers
2) Canucks
3) Isles via Flames

I hope it wins the lottery. Maybe it will help teach this front office to not take such risks. A 4/5 Dman like hamonic just isn't worth what the Flames paid, even if they had squeaked into the playoffs.

Seriously, a team with Dillon Dube as it's best forward prospect thought trading 3 premium picks for a 4/5 Dman was a good idea. Pretty dumb with Stone and Andersson already right there.

We all know the Oilers are winning the first overall pick.

It's how things work (?) for that franchise.

Water under the fridge is usually a pretty big problem...

I don't worry about the pick. I only worry about Hamonic continuing to improve in a Flames' jersey, hopefully solidifying that second pairing and helping the Flames win.

That pick is spent. It is gone. There is no amount of thinking about it that is going to change how it affects the future success of the Calgary Flames. Hamonic can affect the future success of the Calgary Flames, and I think he was worth it. Once he settled in, he played effective defence, he did a decent job of getting the puck out of the zone, he gave the Flames some physicality and even dropped the mitts. He also gives a tonne to the community and helps other people in Calgary to become better people.

That's what I am concerned about regarding this so-called predicament.

What does interest me in the upcoming draft is to see what Treliving does. Does he 'sell' some players to recoup draft picks, especially if there is a guy that the organization likes enough at a certain spot? Do the Flames make a notable trade with a defencemen (either a roster player or one of their more highly touted prospects) for a roster player (or perhaps a prospect who is near NHL ready)? That's the only thing that I really care about when approaching this draft, rather than caring about something that the Flames no longer own and won't affect them at all.
