Most Overrated NFL players

I used to think Vick was the most overrated QB, and while he is still very overrated, there is no question that Rex Grossman is now that guy. On any other team without a great defense, this guy is benched. he seems to throw at least 3 picks a game. as for non QB's, Randy Moss is now that guy, a huge waste of talent.

I'd put Moss in the "unmotivated" category myself.

In the NFL, it seems the bigger the mouth you have, the better chance at the probowl. Some players have big mouths but can back it up with good play. Some players never say a thing and nobody knows they exist. Donnie Edwards for instance, has never made the probowl.

I think Vic is very overated. He is a heck of an athlete, but he is not a great passer (allthough he does show flashes). Ben Rothlisberger, before this season. He was very average at best, had a great team around him and he didn't make mistakes. Now he is in a position where they need him to make plays to win games and he is leading the league in interceptions.

That's easy. Edgerrin James. The guy has been absolute garbage this year - and I have my NFL fantasy draft to prove it...

Agree with Roethlisberger and Grossman. Absolutely average, but got all the accolades -- just goes with being QB of a good team, I suppose. And Champ Bailey. I don't see what's so great about this guy, and why everyone talks him up so much.

Reggie Bush would win for over-hyped player, though he's starting to play a lot better.

In the NBA -- Allen Iverson. He puts up a lot of points, but turns the ball over a ton, and shoots a horrible percentage. Can't wait for the Iverson Era to end in Philly.

Vick is overrated

But my vote goes to John Lynch for a FS he is a awful in any sort of pass coverage and in his last 3 years he only has 3 interceptions, and doesn’t blitz the way he used too its mostly cause he is getting up there in age he still makes his big hits over the middle but he has lost a step to me

Urlacher defintley is not the best MLB in the league, I'm not the only one who thinks he's ovverated, the NFL players voted him as the most overrated player in the league too. The system gets him his tackles, he's a heck of a player just not the all star amazing MLB people make him out to be.

Westrbook is a solid rb but unless you have a strong #2 guy he can't do it. If your winning late in a game and have to run out the clock he simply
can't do it.

Well that's been the knock on him since day one and it's not like people are sending to Pro Bowls, so I don't see how he's overrated.

Totally agree. When you've got a guy like Peyton Manning telling one of the best O-lines in the league how to run a play, you can make any running back look good. Just look at Peyton's sack numbers to prove how good that O-line is. How does a guy like Peyton, who isn't exactly know for his mobility, avoid gettting hit so much? It's his direction to the O-line, and an O-line that can block things the way Peyton wants, and Edge deffinately beneffited from that.

I suppose you could use the good O-line arguement to show Petyon is overrated as well, but he's the guy who is picking up blitzes etc. The man can run an offense like nobody's business.

The Media itself does not claim Westbrook is a pro bowl back, I geuss myn was more geared towards some people out there who beleive he is. He's really not that highly rated by the upper football world, so maybe not a good pick by me.

As for Urlacher, I feel like any one of London Fletcher Jeremiah Trotter Keith Brooking, along with the already mentioned Thomas and Lewis, could do just as well in the "Bears" system.

Don't get me wrong I think Urlacher is a heck of a player, I just don't think he's the MVP, best defensive player in the league that a lot of people make him out to be.

I am in complete shock at these choices. Urlacher pretty much won the Monday Night game at Arizona all by himself in the second half. If anything I would say that Westbrook is one of the most underated players in the NFL. He gets a lot of yards from scrimmage. Everyteam would love to have a back that can catch the ball like him. Bulger has put up great numbers over the years. He is no Dan Marino, but he is good QB. I have never heard anybody going on about how great Bulger or Westbrook are like you hear about Vick.

Admittedly biased, but I'd take Al Wilson over every one of the guys you mentioned...including Zach 'overrated' Thomas and Ray 'overrated' Lewis. I might not take Wilson ahead of Urlacher though.

Derrick Brooks belons ahead of most of the guys you mentioned as well.
