Found out my wife went to high school with one of the victims. And whenever we are in Toronto, we are often passing through Yonge and Finch to get the the 401 as my in-laws family live only 5 minutes away. I also used to do work trips to just south of Yonge and Sheppard, and we would go to the Frog for a pint after work (right on the sidewalk that was used by the driver today). This hits a little too close to home.

I am with you here. Lived in Toronto for two years starting in 2014 and spent a lot of time in that area. We have family that lives a few blocks from there and my wife and I walked that stretch a few times per week. It was eerily close to us this time. Makes you sit down and look at your life and be thankful for the simple events of my daily routine.

This hit home for me. I work in the nearby area and the location is where I would go for lunch. Thankfully was working at home yesterday, and so far I haven't heard of anyone I know directly involved.

horrible story from yesterday. while i get the reaction of shooting the perpatrator, i am glad the cop showed restraint and was able to arrest him without incident.

i wonder if they should start placing a 48 hrs wait period on van rentals/large truck rentals

2 things spring to mind

1.
brace yourself for the parade of prison rape jokes

2.
If you can't deal with the fact that you don't have a relationship with a woman, imagine how you would react to being divorced by your wife. these people are just mentally unfit to deal with social rigors in the modern world.

Maybe it's not the time to bring it up, but...

Often it turns out that Islamic terrorists, domestic terrorists and whatever the hell this guy is have something in common: they can't get laid, they're sexually frustrated and their frustration builds and eventually morphs into violence.

I suspect if we legalized prostitution/brothels that it might go a long way.

I was also relatively close to the truck incident in Edmonton last fall. A little too close for comfort in the last year . . .

The whole incel thing looks like it could be a 4chan prank. Not sure how our national broadcaster could publish this without firm confirmation of fact, but it certainly looks like it could be a false lead.

Shouldn't their primary goal to CONFIRM these things before reporting on them?

Terrible news, no matter what the motivation.

Probably not.

If there's one thing incels (and probably ISIS-types) have issue with, it's the impurity of modern/westernized women in general. Incels in particular idolize pure, virginal women without sexual experience. A sex worker is the exact opposite of what they would consider an option.

You guys have to realize, these sad losers are not just undateable, they also hold such ridiculous standards to have basically castrated themselves.

So i was told that my nephew was across the street and saw this thing happen. I'm not going to go into details, I don't think it serves anyone, but a teenager shouldn't see such things, and its going to take him and his friends some time to get over this.

And now the internet gives them places to congregate and feed into each other's troubles. It's pretty dangerous what can happen online when a bunch of outsiders find each other.
I've never used Reddit or Fourchan, but these sites seem to have some pretty dark corners.

High rates of unmarried men in a society has historically correlated to high rates of crime and violence. Which is one of the reasons why sex selective abortions in India, China, etc. are a big problem. Marriage (or an enduring partnership of some kind) is often the only thing linking men into society, especially low-status men. This is one of the reasons monogamous cultures tend to be more stable than polygamous societies.

So if we're moving into an era where large numbers of men don't have partners and families, we can expect to see anti-social and violent subcultures grow.

I'm not sure about the prostitution angle. The anger and alienation seems to be less about lack of sexual release than it is about lack of status and integration with society.
