Even though I've had time to prepare for this I'm still pretty disappointed. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

I don't think it's so much about grasping the concept of it as it is just feeling natural within the system. So often we hear about players "thinking too much" and that players are at their best when they just go out and "react". The systems probably take some time to become second nature.

Still hoping for a WWE style twist where Treliving introduces the new coach with saying a name and AV walks out to John Cenas music. Then Peter's is announced as assistant.

Likely will be on the Flames website as well as their Twitter and Facebook pages.

It's more of a crutch than anything else IMO. Prepare to have this excuse trotted out if Flames get off to a slow start.
Vegas seemed to handle this situation OK.

How do you arrive at your conclusion that Hartley was a weak systems guy, and Gulutzan was a strong systems guy? I figure when a coach comes in, manages to institute a system that provides for actual success, that he is a strong systems guy. Gulutzan wasn't able to do that, and I think people look at some of the advanced metrics and say he was a strong systems guy. I don't think that it was an issue with motivation when it came to Gulutzan. I think it was a poorly designed system for this team.
At any rate, I am looking forward to this press conference. I assume Peters will be present? Deeply interested to hear any tidbits about how he wants this team to play, and I really hope someone throws him a question similar to: "This team has played possession hockey for the last 2 seasons with poor results. What changes do you plan on making for this team to be successful?" Something like that. Of course he won't have all the answers off the bat, but I like how Hartley (a hire I disliked with passion) came in, talked about how exactly he wants this team to play, and did it.
Unless I hear exactly what I want to hear, or hear something I totally disagree with, today is not a day you hang or applaud Peters. I want to see how this team performs under him, and reserve my judgment in increments throughout the coming season.
Change was without a doubt needed. This is change. Let's see what this change brings.

I am most interested to know which other Canadian team was making a pitch for Peters. Was it Ottawa? Edmonton? Montreal?

They are going to get their lunch handed to them.

Had to be Ottawa. The other two guys arent going anywhere.
The Rangers were pushing too. Then there was another team apparently though its not been suggested who that was, but the one that would make sense is obviously Dallas.

There is a big difference between assessing current performance (Gulutzan) and predicting future performance.

Interesting. This explains why Treliving's timeline to get a new coach was so expedited, he knew there was a market for Peters and needed to get his guy ASAP.

I'm going with a theory that AV checked into a hotel room under the assumed name Bill Peters.

I think you are right.
Tre was probably looking since Christmas. I'm sure during the season, guys like King, Edwards, Burke, Connie were probably "having lunch" with Darryl to test the waters.
Tre ultimately felt Peters is the right guy based on his past experience.
I'm not so hung up on the lack of a "process". Tre pretty much scoured and did all the research for coaches when he hired Gulutzan. In that two year span, I don't know that there was some new hot shot coach that appeared and even if there was, Tre wasn't going to go completely green.
I'm sure Tre has spoken with every coach already, whether under contract or not. A lot of times, you run into people at NHL functions and conversations happen. Doesn't always have to be a formal sit down interview.
Tre has done his homework, the only question is, did he do his homework right?
