Re-read your last two posts, you're the one who called him out specifically.

I feel like you are at least the 2nd person that didn't properly read my post.

Because as far as the city goes he's the one that it has become personal. I could have listed King, Edwards by name but instead chose to group them seeing I'm sure some of the other owners are of the same.

I said less in involvement from Nenshi because that's what the article stated. It did not state if King would be less involved so I can't comment on that can I? I will just bold this so just because it's clear that many here have a tough time comprehending posts.

Lori Williams, associate professor of policy studies at Mount Royal University, said councillors might be wary of voter backlash given many Calgarians supported Nenshi’s position.

I would hope they're weary

The hold up here is the flames, unless they want to play ball I don't know why the city is trying to take another kick at the can, they're just going to end back up in the same place even more opposed

Could it be any worse than the backlash of the Olympics bid? Really is anyone convinced Nenshi will want to run for mayor after this term or if he will be re-elected if he ends up running against a half decent candidate?

I hope the councillors weren't the ones to take any initiative here - it loses leverage in negotiation and there are hundreds of other priorities in this city they could be focusing on instead. Hopefully the Flames made the first move to indicate they'd like to try again with fresh faces.

It's also concerning that we might have the 2nd string playing for the City's side this time...old white dude faux conservatives who are actually more about corporate subsidy than the low taxes as they proclaim...

If Nenshi isn't part of the negotiations then i want the negotiations to stop. You really want Chu, Keating and Sutherland to negotiate a new arena deal on our behalf? Holy crappers!

Don't quote me but I had heard/read that this will be his last term as mayor, he's not going for reelection anyways

Councillors will be on an oversight committee, not directly negotiating, is my bet. The Mayor was not directly negotiating last time, but no doubt he was, by default, helping give directions to the negotiators.

This time around, the best person to actually negotiate the thing directly would be Michael Brown of CMLC. This Victoria Park project is their purview, they are the experts in this, and it needs to be thought of as a real estate transaction primarily.

Actually no it's not. It's abundantly clear that it's impossible to have any meaningful conversation on this topic here. It's been stated correctly by many that nothing was ever going to get accomplished as long as it was Nenshi facing off with King. An article gets written saying; "as yet another move to curtail Nenshi’s control of high-profile projects". My assumption that despite Nenshi's influence possibly being lessened that King would still be heavily involved (we have yet to hear anything from the Flames side) therefore I made my first post. Then in my second post I mentioned that things had become personal for Nenshi and some on the Flames side and somehow this all got turned that I was blaming Nenshi for everything which is absolutely untrue. It's such a shame we can't discuss this topic rationally but here we are.

Nenshi, Ken King and the Flames ownership are all equally to blame.

a bit more info from 660 news:

http://www.660news.com/2018/04/23/ca...t-arena-talks/

Councillor Jeff Davidson is leading the charge on forming a new negotiating team

The Mayor's office is aware of what is going on but is not directly involved in this initiative

You know what, I probably don't have enough justification to have really made that statement- but I was really thinking of Ward Sutherland and Ray Jones, maybe Magliocca and Demong too? I have only my sense from anytime I've watched a council meeting.

And 'old white dudes' wasn't particularly helpful either - Chu, Farkas, Colley-Urquhart, and Davison may all fit my 'faux conservative' label too. I know very little about Davison, so I'll be interested to see how this plays out.

Not really though. The Flames' requests are comical.

This is good news. Now let's see something positive in terms of a response from King please.
