Hopefully, the owners intervene and clean house before another season is wasted.

Saw it on Twitter, not sure on the reliability of the source. Search #Flames

I guess we'll see but I can tell you this. They nailed the 24-48 window.

Because if there’s one sure sign of a successful organization, it’s meddling owners.

I wish Joel Q was made available so we will all get super jacked up & then we watch Bradley quickly pass over him. Not even interview him. Then everyone can realize he really is not that sharp of a GM.

One thing that occurred to me is that if indeed Peters is the man, it fits with the MO of playing a specific style. Regardless of what we think is right, a Peters hiring would indicate a desire from Treliving to stick with the system he has identified as desirable.
One positive aspect is that there have been times the last 2 seasons where the Flames have looked very good. If Peters is able to make a few adjustments such as activating the D more often, improve special teams and instill a will to win and consistent level of effort and execution we could see a very successful team next season.
If not, I agree that Treliving will likely walk the plank.
Regardless, to me, a Peters hire would indicate that Treliving is staying the course and I have to respect that even if I don't necessarily agree with it.

If anything they are the reason we are settling on Peters. They haven't liked to pay for coaching in the past and it looks like they still don't .

I think some people are starting to see it now. I don't understand why he spent 15 minutes holding a press conference where he talked about the "process" and feeding horse to fans when he already decided on his next coach. He didn't even bother to give the illusion of the doing his due diligence on the search. Nothing more dangerous than a guy that thinks he is smarter than everyone else.

Was hoping for Tippett, AV, Sutter or one of the more established guys but as a fan of the team, I’ll get behind the hire until it proves to be a problem. I mentioned in another thread that Jack Adams front runner Gerard Gallant was a bad coach until he wasn’t. He didn’t coach Columbus to within even a sniff of the playoffs for 2+ years, then surprisingly took the Panthers to the playoffs although they were upset. Now he’s coaching an expansion team that is a legit Stanley Cup contender. Let’s hope Bill Peters has a similar progression. It’ll be very interesting to see who will be hired for each assistant position.

Holy crow you've made your point. Is this what we have to look forward to for four years before the guy has even been hired?
I don't mind the rationale criticisms and opinions but the relentless trying-to-be-funny-but-failing-but-repeating-the-same-jokes-over-and-over-again is aggravating.

Just like players, there is such thing as good and bad fits for coaches as well. Carolina sure sounds like it's been a mess of an organization so maybe it was just a bad fit (and I've read exactly that from any 'Canes fans).

Who knows, I'm not convinced but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I think people are confusing system with approach.
I think it is fair to say that BT values a puck possession approach.
But there are many systems that you can implement to achieve that.
I think we will see a coach that offers a
- Similar high level approach (puck possession)
- A different system (to what degree we don't know)
- A different approach to managing the players (more of a taskmaster from what I read)

That nutjob is just as likely to name himself the head coach.

this is pretty much my thinking. i am hopeful that peters can whip them into shape and be consistently that team that looked unstoppable at times

Seems like he'll do something dumb, that owner seems more interested in shaking thing up than making good decisions. He'll probably hire Cameron as the head coach and Gulutzan as GM

Here is the tweet in question about it being a four year deal. Like I said it didn't come from a reliable hockey insider so I never bothered posting it last night.
