Not exactly a history of success. Have to wonder what he sees in this guy, other than numbers that will keep the spreadsheet warriors happy. Definitely a head scratcher.
Peters has been a head coach for ten seasons.

The negativity is just putrid though. So many chicken littles making sickening comments about 'not watching anymore' etc. Hopefully those who are that fed up and feel that way will hit the log out button and be done with it. If you're in the camp that's so fed up you can't take it anymore, find another hobby. If you truly don't care anymore, why come to an online message board and rant at strangers over and over about how little you care. Move on, and find a more positive outlet. This is shaping up to be a sickening summer on here with the same people saying the same tired negative crap over and over.

At the end of the day it's just a game.

I hope these descriptions are wrong (if Peters is hired).

Not a believer at least from stats and from what I have read. I also questi9n the rush when there may be lots of more experienced guys available especially since Tre indicated he was going that route. I hope I am wrong but I dont see much in the cards that says he is way ahead of GG. If not Tre has signed his last coach here.

For the basic reason Bradley did not take anytime at all to interview any other coaches available. Bradley I do not like you hiring coaches.
What a fool he is.

I just don't understand.

Only days after saying that he'll do an exhaustive search for the right guy, and promised that money for coaching is not an issue, he goes out and gets this guy after a few days?

Bloody hell. Hope it works out Trelieving because if it doesn't, Maloney will have your job in no time flat.

Just do us all one favour, PLEASE.

Bring in the right assistant coaches to get the PK and PP back!

If you can do that, all will be forgiven.

Kind of reeks of this was the plan all along. Be interested to hear whether or not any other coaches were interviewed. With all the noise around Peters you would have to figure there would be something about someone else?

Pool on how many games into the season the Bill Peters should be fired thread starts?

No he didn't..he said on the Fan 960 he may hire someone the next day or by the first day of training camp. He also said he had a clear profile in mind. I doubt that money is a factor in this hire which was his point.

This is all part of the plan where the Flames just play out the games until they move.

Frankly, I don’t quite see the difference between Gulutzan and Peters based on the comments and team performance. It’s not like the Flames are much different than the Hurricanes. We’ve got middling goaltending, anemic offence and good possession stats, but nothing to show for it.

Don’t see how this changes anything. I’m disappointed.

I wonder why the PK bottom out in year #4. that seems like a blip.

Still, that PP is better than what Cameron produced last year. I have some hope.

Just need a good assistant.

This is the ‘Bill Peters should be fired’ thread. And he hasn't even been hired yet.

Before draft day, we'll probably be seeing a ‘Whoever gets hired to replace Bill Peters should be fired’ thread.

VGK is an exciting team to watch, no doubt.

but a couple of points; Gallant was a coach that was also unceremoniously dumped by the owners (who can forget 'Cab Gate')... now granted, he actually was successful on the ice with FLA, but that didn't save him in the end.

MacPhee sat down with Gallant and they figured out what kind of system they wanted to run...and they drafted accordingly. Now, while the players available were all 'second tier' in the estimation of their respective teams, they created a line up made to play the system Gallant wanted...

Peters doesn't have that luxury; he will need to get this lineup to buy into his system and his philosophy...

i don't know how this will go...but at this point we'll just have to wait and see...One thing that i think will be good is that Peters is an old school taskmaster type...maybe that 180 will snap the team out of their complacency

on the same token, if peters is gg 2.0 then treliving has already constructed a team tailor built to that style(or has been trying to since he came on and his hiring of gg)
