Sounds like Calgary will introduce their next head coach on Monday morning.

All indications point to it being Bill Peters. #Flames

^ I definitely agree this is a possibility. (Referring to post by Fanin80 about Tre potentially being threatened by experienced coaches)

That’s why when people said Tippett was probably a no go due to the Maloney situation, but were taking about Darryl Sutter, I had to chuckle a little bit. He wasn’t even here a full season before he slid in to the GM role.

When you look at the first round picks by the Hurricanes over the years with not much star power and league basement goaltending, its hard to expect Carolina to have finished very high. Even Mike Babcock finished dead last a couple years back. Lets give him a chance before firing him and BT

Hiring people you know aka buddies... Sounds familiar to a team up north and generally didn't work well for them

Valid point that Treliving clearly has a vision for the organization and is sticking with it. Props to him if it works out as a result of his persistence, but because the only results that matter are wins and losses, and from Carolina fan feedback about Peters' lack of responsiveness when leadership is needed, I remain skeptical that he brings what the Flames need to the table.

I sure hope I'm wrong...

I support a GM that realizes that his initial vision failed and can make adjustments on the fly rather than continuing to pound the square peg into the round hole.

At least Peters didn't play for the Flames.

Maybe he just felt there was a better guy to support that vision rather than changing it all together

100% agree with what Friedman said this morning. He figured if Peters wasn't available then Gulutzan wouldn't be fired.

To me that says there were no other interviews. This was always going to be his guy if given the chance.

This is a coach who will have the team play how Treliving wants his team to play but will hopefully be able to light a fire under the players. Something Gulutzan just couldn't do.

I no longer trust our GM, he talks about taking his time with things to make the right decisions and then rushes to hire a below. 500 coach. I will obviously see how it plays out as I have been a fan all my life but if we are not in a playoff spot come Christmas break they better give Treliving the ax.

Cue the "process" crap from Treliving. ####ty GM is a ####ty GM. He fooled us with one good trade and two good contract signings.

Does that mean the process is a lie ?

There is no process like....

There is no spoon?

Not yet. There are still some of us who are encouraged and dare I say even excited for this.

I just think this was always his choice if he had ti replace Gulutzan. Heck even Friedman hinted at this right at seasons end.

Meet the New Boss. Same as the Old Boss. I don't like the idea of hiring the other guy who's team fell off a cliff at the end of the season. Save the money and just let Gulutzen keep coaching the team.

Lol... imagine the state of CP and Flames fans in general if AV was available and Glen kept his job?

I would have freaked out pretty hard. No joke. I would have gone on a complete and utterly spiteful, hate-spewing, curse words censored out verbal rampage towards management.

Or just create a forum wide auto correct that changes all references too GG/Gulutzan to Peters and re-read the GG threads. It’s all the same stuff over again anyway.
