Flames hire Bill Peters as the franchise's 19th head coach
Maybe time to split off with a new thread.
Multiple insiders (Dreger, McKenzie, Friedman, LeBrun) seem to think this will happen while none have committed to saying it is a done deal, yet.
Peters resigned as coach of the Canes an hour ago.

Can't say I'm too excited considering what's else is available, but if he's the coach then so be it.
Definitely excited to have renewed interest in game 1 this season, and if he's behind our bench let's hope that everyone here at least gives this guy half a season before readying the canon.

Not only game 1.
I want renewed interest in preseason game 1. Too many times this team coasts through the first 10 games and blames it on not being prepared.

Honestly, if the team won't spend the money on AV, and if Treliving isn't thrilled about Sutter (both speculatory comments), then we're probably better off with Peters than whatever plan D would be.
There was far less to recommend Gultuzan from the start than there is for Peters now, at least.

I am highly skeptical about this. The first Fire Gulutzan thread came after six games ( https://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=157559.
Would prefer Sutter or AV, but let's see how this goes

This is true.
I'm just glad Gulutzan is gone. I didn't watch much of the end of the season, and didn't see myself getting too hyped up for more of the same next season.
At least there's hope, and pre-season will also be exciting to see who Peters pulls up to the main squad.

I'm willing to give the man a chance, but I can't shake the feeling that this hire is going to lead to a GM change sooner rather than later.
