I've worked in enough industries to know there's high-ranking idiots in suits in all of them. There's idiots on CP, too, but there's also some posters who actually know what they're talking about. Not claiming to be one of them, just pointing out that it's absurd to assume that a "hockey guy" has some kind of authority over a poster on a message board.
I think that authority comes from the fact that they have inside information that a poster on CP wouldn't have access to. Former players, executives, direct contact, stats teams, interviews, etc.

While it’ll probably be Peters, there’s still a possibility that he comes on as an associate or assistant under one of the “big guns.”

Is it fair to say that perhaps AV and Sutter are post-apex coaches?

Wouldn't that be something? Peters does end up here but as an assistant to Sutter (for example).

Peter's was in St. Louis yesterday. My source thought there was a small chance he was there on his way back from Dallas.... for what that's worth. I know for sure he's in Carolina with his family today, not saying he hasn't jumped on a plane this morning or anything but I know he was "home" as late as this morning.

I actually liked that post... It sums up the disappointment I've felt about this team that hasn't played better than the sum of its parts. or even similar to the sum of its parts.

I assume the mediorcrity will continue and whats the point anymore. Peters won't get this team any closer to being a division winner and we will continue in our middling to poor performance as a franchise.

Honestly, not throwing as much money as needed to at least get AV and Sutter in the room for an interview is mind boggling for a GM who is all about the process.

He didn't leave all that money on the table. He negotiated a decent settlement of that 1.6mil which is cash in pocket, regardless of finding a new job.

That would be a fun turn to a lot of fans skepticism

I am fine with Peter's coming in as HC. As far as I am concerned the greater issue lies with Cameron. Don't hire assistants that will sink you and things will likely be better.

It's takes a team of coaches and Peters has to hire the best team possible. Say he hires a Paul McLean to run the PP and a competent d coach who can run a good PK.

What I want to know about Peter's is will he coach a system taylored to his players individual talents or is he going to box them in like Gully did. That's one of the major questions.

That's and does he have a Hartley level of taking the temperature of his team in key moments.

We need a guy that can feel the games flow.

Assumptions. I know for a fact there are posters on CP with actual insider knowledge. I've also seen better analysis on CP than all of hockey media combined.

Are you insinuating that the process should not include evaluating who is available based on fit? Name and money alone? Doesn’t sound like much of a process.

As much insider knowledge as a current General Manager of an NHL team? Also, I'm not sure what the media has to do with anything. Treliving isn't spending his spare time writing hockey articles on his blog. He isn't part of the media.

I don't think so, based on the fact that both of them have had a lot of success quite recently.

I highly doubt even the smartest poster here has more knowledge than a sitting GM.
