Wow, thanks for the posting...
Couple things I find very interesting.
He always reverts to saying his job is a "Mission" ... thats a little odd
And always says "Allah be praised". Maybe this is how he justify's his actions?
Why the hell is he talking about killing people infront of his 3 very young children? Cultural differences i suppose...
That lady newscaster/reporter with the pink scarf thing is smokin!
It's amazing that they openly have discussions on TV with this guy... that amazes me...

different culture for sure...
and yes, that girl is pretty smokin.
the only really chilling aspect to me was the jovial attitude in the interviewers, the executioner himself seemed to be a bit of a cold operator.

Very interesting.
Not really that disturbing to me, though I agree the open discussion in front of his young children is a little unnerving. I think obviously his son Badr was not one of those as he alludes to him starting his own position soon.
I think you might have a similar discussion with anyone who carries out capital punishment anywhere in the world.
Also, personally, I don't see beheading as any more cruel than any of the methods used in the US. It's quick and painless. The only question is what offenses does the Koran demand this punishment for. I have no idea but I imagine some of them would seem trivial to us.

Quick and painless for the person being killed...gory and violent for the public.
Especially if you have certain people watching the execution.

I'd rather be shot then beheaded.
I'd rather be beheaded then hanged.
I'd rather be hanged then given lethal injection.
But I think there is some kind of awareness with each method that could be described as pain.

Well...not necessarily painless. Normally, taking 1 swipe of the sword will lop the head off clean...but there are times when the executioner has to take a few whacks, either from a dulled sword or because the angle is a bit off.

"allah be praised" is just an expression they use when they talk I think. I've heard it many times in interviews with Muslims. Not so sure about his referring to what he does to as a "mission". It might be just the translation or he might believe he has his position by divine providence.
Yes the women reporter is attractive. I'm glad they don't require her to wear the full body covering.
I do agree that his casual attitude would be found in any professional executioner. We can desensitize ourselves to just about anything. The most surprising thing for me was the reporters. They seemed to see him as some sort of sports hero or something.

'allah wakbar' means 'allah be praised'. Its meaning is quite similar in English to saying 'praise the Lord'.
The common expression you may be thinking of is 'ensh'allah' which means 'god willing'. An English equivalent to this is like saying 'yeah, maybe'. For example, 'are you going to the party this weekend?' may be answered 'ensh'allah' in arabic or 'yeah, maybe' in English.
Also, please excuse the horrible arabic spelling with English characters... That's just a phoentic spelling to the best of my ability.

Christ! That guy is a splitting image of Capt. Ben Sisko from Deep Space Nine. I often wondered what Trek stars did after their 7 years of television!

The death penalty is abhorrant regardless of the specific method used for the actual execution. Beheading is no more "backwards" than lethal injection, gas, or the electric chair.

really? i think lethal injection would be my choice out of all of them. It would seem like the one you feel the least, and dont they only inject the drug into your body after you've been put to sleep?
Nothing with necks please...no hangings or beheadings. I have a phobia about necks and being chocked, probably why i hate wearing ties.

The difference is "civilized countries" don't excute people for missing their morning prayers or whatever stupid reasons they come up with, and secondly you don't see many American executioners interviewed on TV like they're pop stars.

From what I believe, an inmate is given a lethal dose of general anesthetic. General anesthetic of course puts a person to sleep and makes it so that they cannot feel anything. Lethal injection would be very painful if it wasn't for this b/c usually potassium chloride is injected into the prisoner as well and even small amounts of potassium burn when entering the bloodstream and so having the lethal doses that they administer would be too much for a human to handle - I think you would probably die from the pain alone.
