Don't egg cars in Columbus or you'll be shot
Quote:
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A 14-year-old boy who was throwing eggs at cars along with two other teenagers was shot and killed by someone who had been in a sport utility vehicle that was hit, police said.
Danny Crawford was killed by a gunshot wound to his upper body, Franklin County Coroner Brad Lewis said. He died in an alley on the city's west side early Saturday, authorities said.
The teens were throwing eggs at cars when an SUV that was struck chased them, Detective Tim Huston said. The vehicle stopped and several gunshots were fired, he said.
Police were looking for the shooter, who fled in the SUV, Sgt. Dana Norman said. The SUV believed to be involved was found a short time later near where Crawford died.
The other teens were not hurt, police said.

throwing things at moving vehicles is pretty dangerous, and anyone that's spent time in the states will tell you that there are a lot of bumper stickers that say 'this vehicle insured by smith & wesson' or 'keep honking - i'm reloading'.
if people want to endanger the lives of others in that country, i say, good luck and say hello to the devil for me.

i should have prefaced that by saying i assumed they were throwing eggs at moving vehicles, the article was non-specific but as there were people in the SUV at the time that's what i would think.

no sympathy here. if you're stupid enough to do something like that then you'd better be prepared to face the consequences if you hit the wrong car. doesn't take a lot these days to set the wrong person off
of course if it were me i would have preferred to shoot the little jackasses with a paintball gun

You won't get me to feel sorry for those kids. Somehow they think what they are doing is fun.

I think it's INSANE that any of you would say that this is justified. You should feel bad, because some kid lost his life for being a little stupid. Kids are kids, and they do make mistakes; the kid was MURDERED for throwing an EGG. You've never done anything stupid in your entire life? I feel so bad for this kid and his family.

I still think the guy that shot the 14 year old kid is at fault here. Yes the kid was being an idiot, but he didn't deserve to be shot in the chest for it.

Still, saying that you don't have sympathy that a 14 year old kid was murdered is a bit harsh...

Same pretty harsh reactions here.
Amazes me how some people are more ****ed off at a kid who throws eggs, then a guy who shoots a kid.
I hope you guys never have kids, cause sure enough they will do something stupid at some point in the teenage years, and I guess you won't care if they get killed doing it.

I feel sorry for the family and that's it. You may think it's harsh but actions do have consequenses. The world we live in can be a dangerous place - especially cities south of the border.
Maybe this news will get around to other cities and towns and serve as a warning to other kids who might want to do something similar.

So if you shoot someone with a paintball gun, wouldn't that make you an even bigger jackass, who then deserves to be killed?

I would feel sadness and anger if anyone of my kids were killed. That doesn't mean I would blame it all on the shooter. I might be questioning myself as to where my parenting skills went wrong and why a son of mine would do such a thing.

I once stood upon a large dirt hill throwing chunks of dirt at cars driving along Bow Bottom Trail. One guy in his van stopped around the corner, walked up to me and my friend and grabbed our bikes (and our collars) and hauled us to my friend parents house. Scared the right **** out of me. Guess I got off lucky. Still feel like a dumbass for that lil stunt, but at 8 years old, can't say I had much intelligence to consider what I was doing.
Don't think the kid diserves what he got, but his actions were quite serious. Toss this story on the pile of reason why gun control is important and why I'm glad I live in Canada.

Wow, are you for real? Seriously??.. He threw an egg. Do such a thing?. Its not like he was throwing bowling balls off an overpass.. Yes throwing an egg at a car can be dangerous, but we don't even know how it was happening.. If they were throwing them on the front windshield as the car drove by, yes thats dangerous.
The kid was murdered for throwing a FREAKING EGG... Thats a little ridiculous in my opinion. Could the SUV guy just call the cops? Oddly enough the cops wouldn't care all that much because they were throwing EGGS.. Yes there should be consequences for your actions, but death for throwing an egg is a little much.

Sorry the whole post wasn't directed at you. Just the part of your response making it sound like the kid was throwing babies off a building..
The rest of the post was directed at those who seem to think it is acceptable to shoot a kid for throwing an egg.. If someone shoots someone because of road rage is that acceptable? Same thing imo.
I know I sure did worse things as a kid...

we're trained by media, society, etc. to think that all isues have two sides, that everything is the fault of 'this guy' or 'that guy', which is total ****ing bull****.
sometimes (well most times) things happen that aren't so easy to pin down. sometimes person A steps across the line with person B, who overreacts.
we can be all high and mighty and say 'person B is a psycho' but honestly, if person A hadn't ****ed with him, everything would be ok.
throwing things at cars can cause accidents that kill people. i know if someone threw something at me on the road, that it would be a bad call on their part.
all us nice and polished and happy and well-adjusted ivory tower dwellers can look down on the troglodytes that are over-protective of their life and property and feel better.
ahh... i can almost feel it now. the collective conscience of people switched off with REALITY.

Again I think you missed the point with other posters. I highly doubt anyone here thinks shooting a kid is acceptable. Posters said they had no sympathy and somehow you took a leap of logic and suggested posters thought it was okay.
I have zero sympathy for the kid. Even though the consequenses of his actions are a tad unfair they are consquenses non the less. I've done some bad things as a kid and got no sympathy from my parents. My father would always tell me you should have thought about your actions first before you came whining to me about what happened.

I don't live in an ivory tower and I'm not well-adjusted, but I do think murdering a child because he threw an egg at your car is a little excessive. Maybe if the killer had time to reflect, and a sharp saw, he could have just cut the kids arms off. That would be better.
