Secondly even if something like this were instituted it would not be fair as a persons life circumstances can change over a 10 year period. For example if a med student got married 2 years after being done and their spouse was being transferred out of Alberta. No fault of theirs that they have to move and they aren't moving to chase money.

Life isnt fair and I refuse to feel sorry for doctors who likely average 200K income.
I agree this isnt a Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan plan - this is an Albertan plan. You would need a leader with strong convictions and enough political clout to do the job.
I dont see voters voting against a Premier who instituded these rules because they feel sorry for poor doctors who want to move tot he US.

As per the scandal, that's more the entire federation getting screwed instead of just Alberta meaning that Alberta isn't signled out at all.
Nice try. This whole poor Alberta act is frickin hilarious. Keep 'em coming.

When those same politicians didnt single out ANY OTHER PROVINCE - then YES.

Doctors may be seriously dissuaded from studying in Alberta if they know it means they have to stay for 10 years... isn't that obvious? If your plan is to increase the pool of doctors available in Alberta, I think its got the chance to exactly the opposite.

Funny that one side always believes its only the other that uses 'fear tactics'. Its not like its owned by the left or right... every party uses it to varying degrees.

I have to agree, I would rather have an economic carrot that a stick...say that Med students get a generous break on tuition if they agree to work in Alberta for 5 years after graduation.
In the big picture, if you make a crucial service like doctors more open to market forces you are playing with fire IMO.

I'll say it again- if Stelmach gets through to the finals, he's going to take it. I simply don't see many Morton supports putting Dinning down as their second choice. If Stelmach is anywhere within striking distance of Dinning he'll take it.

Usually thats how people get elected in general...especially in the US.
I guess honesty and integrity in politics is a long, lost story.

Uhhh... perhaps he didn't get into Medical School as he took Math.
Not even close to the pre-reqs needed for Med. I know someone that kicked butt in English yet their app was denied... odd....
Can't decipher the rest of your paragraph - kind of like the rest of your argument.

Good to see that Stelmach will win not because of his policies or qualities but because everyone would rather have him rather than the other guy.
We go from a great Premier to this loser, I can't wait. Hopefully Morton will go over to the Alberta Alliance and kick out the Stelmach PC's in the next election.
Vote for Stelmach he isn't any good but he isn't Dinning or Morton.

I agree. The editor from the High River Times phoned a certain Calgary Herald reporter to tell him that the rural riding hates Dinning and the suit mentality. The Herald reporter said Dinning was going to win.
The above was mentioned on the Global news cast.
Stelmach reminds of Klien.

So does Morton for that matter.
To me anyways...I just wish he would let the same-sex marriage issue die down...completley. Its over and done with.
I wonder how many votes Morton would get by doing that.

Wasn't Morton going to opt out of the CPP?
And wasn't he for a 2 tiered health care?
Morton is to radical for me.
