Are they wheeling out the catapult and introducing Brouwer and Gulutzan yet?

"Dont worry about the catapult boys....that is here for an entirely unrelated thing...."

I'm cool with this. Smith was arguably the team's MVP during the first 3/4 of the season (along with Johnny of course). I think he'll be fine next year, provided his teammates can actually help support him with some offence.

I thought Rittich had a decent year a swell.

It's detrimental because it's pointless. He's not going to uncover anything shocking. What's going to happen, if he takes his time, is he's going to fire the coach. Shocking! Using the coach's poor player selection, poor motivation, poor adaptability, which was on display all season, the decision should be obvious.

He doesn't need to be fired yesterday, but there's really no reason it should take weeks. Get it over with and then get to the decisions that are actually a challenge.

This is the most long winded, vague interview ever - he's not getting pinned down on anything. It's like Lumbergh from office space took over the flames.

Reviewing all available information is never pointless. Especially when it includes exit interviews.

And until it does take weeks, your over-reaction and criticisms are wildly premature. Again, it's 48 hours from the end of he season.

My question is throughout a whole season , you should have some answers and maybe he does. I would like to think that in a properly run organization no surprises should come from an exit interview.

Jermaine with his usual inane question.
Treliving most certainly has avoided using the word coaching early in the presser, both with his pre arranged comments and some early questions, being deliberately vauge, and twice stopping when he was going to say coaching.

Nothing new really but confirmed Ferly, Brodie and Hamonic all had concussions.

What I got from this. Coaching is gone. What they'll hang for is Special teams.

Said resilience a few times, expecially when it came to possibly tinkering with the core. Take that for what you will but I got the inference that the foundation needs to be stronger.

This is what I got as well. Also, mentioned inability to perform in most important moments. At least some of that has to be on coaching staff.

Agreed.
As mentioned, he went out of the way not to say the word coach or coaching when talking about the elements he was going to evaluate, stopping himself.
Meets with the coaches tomorrow. “Not good enough” falls on everyone’s shoulders, but a lot of players underachieved overall, and many folded their tents the last couple months...maybe sure some character issues but most of those players have been in the league long enough...which leads to a coach that deep down, they didnt really trust to lead them in those critical times, as BT also mentioned as occurring through the year.

I think BT knows that the coaching leadership failed a lot of players.

He also sounded pretty pissed off about the dreadful home record. No doubt some of that has to fall on the coaching staff not having the team prepared.

The team has clarified Mark Giordano and the World Championships. He was asked to play by Hockey Canada, via the team, but did not talk to them directly.

Giordano declined with a newborn in the family. #Flames

I would be too,

Flames squeeze out a couple more wins at Home and we're all probably putting up car flags and getting ready for the playoffs.

Has it been weeks already? Seems like just yesterday that the season ended.

Think it goes hand in hand with special teams. You have a good PP at home like youre supposed to and its an advantage. And I feel like thats what made coming to the dome so miserable for other teams in years past. Its all squandered momentum.

Listening to that just puts into perspective how flat out stupid Eric Francis really is. His question really had no place here. What was he expecting exactly?

His methods, tone, attitude is frankly an embarrassment to the media culture of Calgary sports.

Really tired of his annual display of incompetence.

Yeah, my read is he already knows GG will be shown the door. Just wanted to be vague and not do it in the presser today.

As was said, he almost awkwardly avoided mentioning coaching. It’s like not looking at the guy you have to fire that afternoon.

And almost every deficiency he mentioned was significantly related to coaching.
