Pat Steinberg@Fan960Steinberg

When asked about his future with the team, Gulutzan says he doesn’t have any thoughts right now. He says “it distracts from the process” of wrapping up the season.

Gulutzan says he’ll sit down with GM Treliving tomorrow to discuss the season. #Flames

I’m not sure what he thinks the goalie’s job is. Not a lot of handles. He can’t score, so stop the puck.
I think it means that in general, he feels he didn't play well down the stretch overall, likely meaning more focus on the stopping the puck part, I'm sure he gets that's the bulk of his job. And he's saying it wasn't a physical issue re: the injury, he feels he mentally didn't put himself in a position to play his best, likely because he felt like he had to steal games for the team, versus simply playing his role as best he could.

Not sure what the confusion is. A nice refreshing answer from our goalie, accepting responsibility for his role in the collapse down the stretch, while also providing us clarity from his perspective on whether his less than ideal performance had to do with coming back too quickly from injury.

Interesting wording from Gulutzan. Read into it as we like I suppose.

That's just part of the problem.
If there is anyone out there who is targeting a player's head because they have a history of concussions they need to be kicked out of the league.
Period.

They need to start taking this stuff seriously.

If a guy has a concussion. SAY IT. ACKNOWLEDGE IT. Show that you are actually DEALING with it.
Agreed. This ordeal of hiding it is something that has to stop. Take a page from the NFL where they have to publically indicate it's a concussion, not a "upper body injury".

The whole injury reporting culture in the NHL in general needs to change. Keeping it a secret doesn't change the fact if the player is playing or not. And you have to figure the opposing teams would know what's hurting the player, or at least have a idea.

I could see this being a quick 15 minute meeting that Tre checks his watch and phone every 3-5 min during GG's accounts of the season.

I don't disagree but until they start doing that (which I find unlikely) I'm fine with not putting a target on our player's heads (literally and figuratively).

Too many d-bags in this league from the types who'd target susceptible players to those who'd do it accidentally-on-purpose.

Man I hope GG gets his walking papers tomorrow...

However I am not convinced it’s actually going to happen just feels like ownership won’t do anything because they likely won’t pay for a top coach so why fire the guy with 2 years under his belt for (likely) another rookie-ish head coach

I am really hoping so. No need to wait a month like they did with Hartley.

Having said that Treliving likely needs approval to fire Gulutzan. We can assume that already has occurred but perhaps he hasn’t made his mind up.

I feel like Hartley was fired due partly due to the players pretty much demanding it. Treliving May have been willing to give Bob another year albeit a short leash but with many important contract negotiations that summer he may have had his hand forced?

Perhaps henis waoting to hear from the players on Gulutzan before he makes his final call?

The more I think about it this is going to go one of a few ways. Either it will be a short meeting and GG is fired or they discuss in length where things went wrong and BT addresses what changes he would like to see and he is given another year. GG seems like the kind of guy that would be happy being a puppet coach and taking his cues from management. Maybe they point out his flaws in man management and he finally gets it. I prefer him and the rest of the coaches get the ax but I am not discounting the chance GG stays. I think if we have not heard anything by the end of the week you can bet on him coming back.

Pat Steinberg@Fan960Steinberg

Monahan says he’s had his left wrist reconstructed. Wearing a sling today, says he should be fully recovered in about 3 months.
Says he had to grind through it for the final 35 or so games of his season. #Flames

Glenn Campbell@CTVGCampbell

Sean Monahan says it was tough playing through wrist injury this season, was basically playing with one hand. Frustrated the Flames are not going to the playoffs.

Pat Steinberg@Fan960Steinberg

Monahan also says he’s had surgery on two hernias and an injured groin. #Flames

Monahan with 4 (!!!!) surgeries since being shut down (per Wes G, and noted above)

How did he even play those last few games? Wow.
