So you are hoping on all hope that not 1 but 2 players with modified no movement clauses agree to go to a rebuilding team?? Also hoping that 2 players from the Sens with NTC agree to come here? Taking on 7.25 million of Bobby Ryan for the next 4 years..... probably paying Stone 5.5 to 6 million and if you want to sign Karlsson it will take probably 10 million?

To me.. at the contract he's currently locked in at; trading Gaudreau for anything is just plain dumb. I can't see it he just has way too much potential and want to see him under the direction of a AV or a JQ. Please just say no to trading Gaudreau.

If Johnny gets moved, it’s going to be one of the biggest trades in NHL history.

I could see Buffalo offering up an absolutely wild package to get him to play with Eichel.

I don’t want Johnny moved, but if it were to happen - getting back Buffalo’s 1st (Brady Tkachuk?) + + is what it would take. Absolutely elite players in their prime years generally don’t get traded, and that’s what Johnny is.

Seeing Johnny with a coach who pushes pace would be unreal.

For a guy who rarely says things of consequence, I am still flabbergasted by ROR’s admission of losing his love for the game - and the resigned look on his face as he said it.

Lost love of game and still got 60 points and was 60% at faceoffs .

I'm sure the Flames/Sabres rumours will start to heat up near the draft.

Johnny is far better than Brady Tkachuk.
I'd want to get Eichel back and even then, I'd want more. Eichel's best season is 64 points. Gaudreau's worst is 61.

O'Reilly would look REAL good in Flames silks... Ticks off a lot of boxes too: hates to lose, elite 2-way centre AND he's awesome on the draw.

I thought that, especially if they didn't sign Backlund, they'd be smart to do a deal around ROR.

I would sooner trade half the roster to acquire Eichel to play with Gaudreau than trade Gaudreau to go play with Eichel.

Points aren’t everything.

Eichel’s trade value is greater than Johnny’s.

In any event, Buffalo ain’t moving him.

Unfortunately they are, the lack of said points is the reason we're not in the playoffs
More players with more points = more winning = team success
Points is what drives the whole game, teams strive to get points based on players scoring said points.

This reminds me what a shame Bennett hasn't panned out (yet). Having him as a 1/2 centre would open up sooooo much. Backlund & Frolik could have been buried even more defensively. Tkachuk + Bennett as a second line (I always thought he'd be an O'Reilly type player) makes me drool.

You could not be more wrong.

Preventing points is also important.

While Johnny is a great talent, he is considered a one dimensional player. Eichel is a big centre and is likely to get quite a bit better. Johnny’s game, though excellent, is more likely fully matured.

His value in a trade is better than Johnny’s.

I have my fingers/toes/etc crossed for somehow landing ROR.
I am of the firm position that the only way the flames improve their forward personnel is NOT by trying to fill the top line RW position, but rather slotting backlund/frolik to 3rd line checking roles and generating a scoring 2nd line that can take the pressure off the top line a bit.

ROR seems like an obvious trade target, am curious what other centers may be out there via that route? Stastny is also a decent 2nd line C, though I am not at all comfortable with the UFA cost it would take.

 Gaudreau - Monahan - Tkachuk
 Bennett - ROR/Stasny/?? - Ferland
 Frolik - Backlund - Foo
 ?? - Jankowski- ??

Hellz yeah, I would part with a significant piece(s) to land him.

Heh...
Agree to disagree completely.

Johnny is already considered a top 10 player in the league, Eichel is not.
As "likely" as Eichel is to get better, he could easily as "likely" not ever hit the same top end talent Johnny has already displayed.

You're comparing 2 different players who play 2 different positions and are counted on to do 2 different things for their teams.

I take JG 10 out of 10 times

			Fox + Bennett for RoR
Fox stays in his home state, Bennett gets a fresh start. Sabres get younger

Flames take on a 7.5M cap hit till 2023.

That adds more than 5.5M to the cap.

Do the Flames bury Janko on the 4th line, move him to wing, or trade him?
