2018/19 Goaltending Options for the Flames

Bennett + any one defenceman in the organization + Smith for Carey Price + one of Montreal’s top 6 wingers.
I know Price has an year 84 million contract starting next year which probably means this wouldn’t work even if trade could be made. But I think he would make a huge difference.
I like Smith but I don’t think he fits on this team. Too fiery, which I don’t see as a positive. Flames gave up two goals in 2 minutes 23 times, or whatever the stat is. Some of the blame has to be on the goalie. Smith loses concentration a bit too often. Flames need a calming presence in net. A goalie that makes the job look routine, not one who makes routine saves seem spectacular.
Anyway bottom line is I think they need a new starter. Again.

I'm perfectly fine with a Smith/Rittich tandem next year. Smith looked good as a healthy starter. Rittich looked good as a backup.

Gillies still shows a lot of promise although I think he still needs another year in the AHL.

No need to change course in goal IMO. Smith/Rittich next year. Then probably a Gillies/Rittich tandem the year after that. Let Parsons develop in the AHL.

Smith and Gillies are my choices
