Normally the Jets likely wouldn't play their brains out, and rest players and coast a bit in a scenario like this. But there's still an outside chance of winning the West, and an outside chance of winning the Presidents Trophy. So this shouldn't be a mail in effort.

Ugh...do not want Lehner. First of all, he's been entirely underwhelming during his tenure in the NHL. Secondly, if anyone was worried about Mike Smith throwing his teammates under the bus, Lehner has been doing it all year long. Somehow he believes he's not part of the problem in Buffalo. Horrible attitude to go along with below average goaltending.
I'd sooner run with Rittich. At least Rittich owns his bad games.

Yeah, kind of insane that this late in the season that any of Nashville, Boston, Tampa, Winnipeg or Las Vegas still could take home the President Trophy.

Its Buffalo. Everyone is unhappy there.
But, if Lehner isn't your cup of tea (and that's fine) the deal could exist elsewhere. Gillies to St. Louis for the rights to pending UFA Carter Hutton or something along those lines.

So the team has checked out, GG is a dead man walking and yet some of you want to use this as a showcase to trade away Gillies. Goalies very rarely come into NHL form at a young age, they peak later. Look at Hellybuk (sp?) if he had been a Flame CP would have cast him aside after last season and look at what a mistake that would have been.
Have some patience people. Yes the season has been disappointing but lets give younger players chance to develop and not blame them for the end result. Rant over.

I agree that goalies develop much later than players, but we also can't afford to piss away Johnny and Mony's primes, and what is left of Gio's pre apex years waiting for Gillies to become the man.
