Default How many Tkabucks do we think he’ll get?

How many of the millions? If his third season shows as much progression as his second season did, is it fair to put him in the 4-5 range?

I take great issue with your inappropriate vernacular.

It is bad and you should feel bad.

If we get him under 6M for 7-8 years it's highway robbery.

Would it be crazy to suggest he gets $6M a year for the full 8 years if extended this summer? Might be more if the Flames wait until next year.

8 years, 6.75M per.

The contract scale has shifted a bit since the Gaudreau/Monahan deals were signed. If we go after 8 years (and we should), I fully expect it to be at the same level as Gaudreau’s contract.

I just don’t believe we’re going to get him long-term for a number that starts with a 5. It’ll start with a 6, and it should start with a 6.

Next season, I won’t be surprised to see him end up with 60-80 points, while being an absolutely elite defensive player.

Tkachuk isn't getting $8 million on this go round.

Treliving got Johnny to sign for $6.75 after a 30 goal, 78 point season.

Matt hasn't proven he can stay healthy and crack 50 points yet.

Sign him on July 1st. $50M over 8 years at $6.25M. Not sure he can command Gaudreau $$$ with only 48 and 49 point seasons.

It depends on the moves Treliving makes this summer

If he makes moves that could cause a cap crunch:

I like 6 years at around 6

If he can't make any good moves this summer:

I like 8 years at around 6.5 - 7

One thing's for sure -- an 8-year deal is an absolute must.

8 years at 6M or a bridge deal at around 4-4.5M would be my guess.

He's an RFA. Unless another team offer-sheets him and overpays ridiculously, I hope Tre signs him to a decent amount (probably in between Monahan and Backlund and long term) to make everyone happy.

Matthew Tkachuk with be making at least the same amount as Gaudreau and Giordano. It wouldn’t shock me in the slightest if he was paid more. Don’t care that he doesn’t put up as many points as Gaudreau, he’s our 2nd best forward and in my opinion is the most important piece of this team going forward.

Pay him more than Gaudreau and make him captain so he can change the damn culture on this team and be able to call out any teammate when necessary.

He's an RFA winger who hasn't put up a 50 point season yet.

He won't even make what Monahan is making unless he puts up 70+ points next year.

Monahan had 31g/62p and 27g/63p in the 2 years leading up to his contract extension and playing a tougher position. Have you seen Treliving negotiate RFA contracts?

I'm all for trying to get him to sign for as little as possible, but we got to be objective.
Tkachuk had a better rookie season than Monahan, and he was also on pace for a 59pt season this year before he got hurt. From a pure numbers perspective, it's hard to make an argument that he's produced less than Monahan.
I think something along the lines of a Hamilton deal is fair.
