Jesus is also an under-developed character
And you've got Carol as a core developed character.

Damn, completely forgot about Jesus. Definitely a character to like.
Carol has had her moments. Not someone I'm cheering for at this point.

Why did jaidis need a flare to flag down that helicopter? It was pretty low, right over her and in the middle of daylight... who’s flying that thing, Stevie wonder?
Given her super well appointed storage container looking bedroom, and the fact she tried to signal it makes me think she’s a part of some other group that is well equipped enough to have a helocopter. There seems to be more to the dump than meets the eye. The communities here better hope they are friendly...
Rick is becoming irredeemable, that was just straight up sociopath decision making. Morgan is well acted but I’m tired of the character.

I had to watch it without the benefit of a PVR like a peasant- so I missed how Negan got the gun and flare. It was like one second he was tied up, and the next he had the upper hand.

You missed nothing.
That entire sequence was so fantastically stupid that my mind, out of self-preservation, completely erased it. Kind of like getting black out drunk.
But now I remember it in all its farcical glory.
Jadis walking away like an idiot, Negan heel-scooching, then suddenly he has a gun, ignited flare, and although still tied down full enough coordination and use of his arms to not only find all of those photos, but check their content and lay them out in a collage. Jadis then shoving out that Costco shopping cart zombie, then ducking like a caught child.
As Negan would say: "what the ####?"

That was one of the most mind-numbingly dumb sequences ever. If you figure it out let us know.

He too found the box of stupid plot devices. When garbage lady leaves him for a moment, you see him using his feet to shuffle off screen. I guess garbage lady left her bag (the one you see her packing) that had the gun and flare nearby.
Doesn't even come remotely close to explaining how he managed to ignite the flare with one hand though. Or neatly stack the pictures beside him. Or verify the gun was loaded and a round chambered.
**edit**
Yamer did a much better job.

I would like to thank you guys for discussing the episodes. I quit watching a year or so ago and considering the amount of years I did invest, I care enough to at least see how its going and if its worth coming back. It seems as if it hasn't improved. So instead of wasting an hour each Sunday, I can just spend a few minutes of work time reading what happened here.

They need to wrap up the whole Negan plot line and move on. They've spent too much time on it and it is all very stale.

Don't agree at all. Negan continues to be one of the best things about the show.
I again thought this was a very entertaining and effective episode. There was a bit of solid action, but it wasn't action for the sake of action - finally, one of the biggest a-holes in the show dies, in horrible fashion, and you can't even really get much enjoyment out of it because it's pretty clear that what Morgan and Rick just did was evil. You had some solid character development for Rick, Morgan and Carol, and even a bit more Negan insight in his disarmed, less performative state. Finally there's a bit of good news and rays of hope in a fairly bleak season when they find Henry and he's not bit - hard not to like Jerry's enthusiasm when he tells Ezekiel to go look. You got some great "where is this going now" mystery in the form of the junkyard helicopter, and a bit of suspense for next time - who did Negan pick up, will the "good guys" stoop to assassination of their former friend, and what's the trap Negan's setting for Simon in telling his men not to let on that he's there?
Not sure how that's anything but a good, solid episode that makes me want to tune in next week.

I'll be disappointed if anyone other than Rick or Maggie offs Negan, in less than the most disgusting way conceivable. Or maybe they turn him and leave him that way.

A little bit of me still thinks they join forces against a bigger threat and perhaps he dies fighting that threat.
The series has yet to turn an enemy into an ally.
I think it would be a great twist for the series.

I'd like to see that as well, just because I love the character and wouldn't mind seeing him return next season. But with Maggie and Rick hellbent on killing him, I really don't see how he joins them or makes it out of this season alive.

If they're going to do that, don't use Carl. The character that would have the most impact on both Rick and Maggie would be...

It could be something like Rick’s group being captured and facing near certain death; then Negan and the Saviours risk everything to save them. Then in some reversal Rick has to save Negan.

Well, he did just read a letter from his dead son. Change of philosophy in Carl's honour, perhaps? Too bad he didn't read it before all the murder this week, if so...
