My only issue with this whole thing is how this protest happened. I strongly disagree with these performances.

Someone is making a living, doing something that is completely legal. And you want to ruin this persons business because you think all animals are sacred.

If you want to make change, make it at the top. These kinds of demonstrations are pathetic.

While I don’t have anything to add to the OP, I will share a personal story:

About 15 of us, mostly a church group, were backpacking for a weekend. We were going somewhere fairly remote so we had to walk through some untouched terrain. We walked out of a forest into a grassy field and saw a small herd of cows. There was maybe 8 of them, 100 metres away, all tagged and somehow made it into public land. We didn’t think much of them and walked through the field until one of them, probably the alpha, perked it’s head up and started charging at us. The other 7 cows joined the charge.

Having never been attacked by a large animal before and my impression of cows have always been that they were slow, peaceful animals that always ate, I just froze on the spot in fear and confusion.

“Behind the tree!” Our organizer shouted, and we all hurried towards the lone tree in the field. We all had heavy overnight packs on so we didn’t have much time to think how we were going to handle thousand pounds of cows charging in our direction. I didn’t have bear spray but I pulled out my camping knife and all I could think about was how I was even going to remotely take this thing on and how this might be the last thing I do before I die.

BANG! A shot rang out in the air as one of us had his hunting rifle with him. He totally forgot he had it slung on his back while we were all running. The cows stopped dead on its tracks. BANG! The guy took another shot in the air and the cows dispersed to the edge of the field.

We all wasted no time running to the other forest on our way to the camp site with buddy and his rifle watching our backs.

Anyways, from that moment onward, if presented with a choice of “beef, chicken or pork?” The answer is always beef, twice on Sundays.
Make no mistake, herbivore or carnivore, they don’t care, they will murder you if given the choice . So murder them first and eat their flesh

Yeah, probably, but we lived in the City our entire lives. But in the minority for sure.

Like many have said here, I love meat and I will not stop eating it. But I suppose if there is a process in the future that tastes as good and is more affordable/sustainable I would eat that.

They want to ruin someone's business because they can. They are a group of bullies, who think that trying to ruin someone's business will make them feel better about themselves.

Of course, they won't go after a company like McDonalds because they aren't big enough such a restaurant to even worry about them. Or, as they said themselves:

"We can't protest McDonald's — they would laugh."

These people are cowards, and so too is anyone who supports them.

Obviously this is meant as a funny story, but it reminded me of some stats I saw that showed that cattle kill more people per year in North America than bears, snakes, spiders, sharks, wolves and coyotes combined!

I am interested in seeing some research on people that have changed their lives by adhering to a strict Vegan Diet, along with those adhering to a strict Diet that includes meat.

The problem I see here is that I would imagine that most stats we see are people that have gone vegan, researched, and were careful about how they did it. If meat and all by-products were gone I still think we would have large percentage of people that were poor meat eaters would also be poor Vegan eaters. Giant plates of pasta drenched in Pesto with a side of potatoes chips kind of thing.

I think crappy eaters are still going to be crappy eaters.

If a Vegan diet helped save your life, good on you. But I bet you researched and did a lot of work to do it properly.

Someone tells me that every kid he/she knows is vegetarian, I'm not buying that. I know one vegetarian, a former vegan who switched after getting a cancer diagnosis, and a pescatarian. That's all.

It just has everything to do with exposure. If people encountered scorpions as much as they do cows it would be mayhem. Cows are really nice. They always come running up to us on hikes. It looks like they're going to trample you but they just come up for a close look. If you don't worry about them they leave you alone. The bulls always hang way behind like big chickens.

You went backpacking with a church group, somewhere remote, but obviously close to a farm, and someone in your group was randomly carrying a firearm?.. cool story bro.

There are free range cattle all over Kananaskis, no where near any farms.

I grew up on a farm...my Dad had polled Hereford cattle.

What you said is mostly true with 2 exceptions.

1. A mother cow with a calf that is less than 2 weeks old.

2. A bull in company with a cow that is in heat.

I grew up on a farm and what you said is true... except when it isn't. There are definitely bulls that have the temperament to run you down just for fun. And any cow you startle has a chance to kick you hard enough to end you.
