I just rewound the pvr. How the hell is Gio supposed to 'protect' Smith when he got crosschecked in the back and was stumbling forward. and Smith instantly went after Lucic.

I'm guessing you missed the after hours segment. Idiot brains was calling out Gio for not protecting Smith.

Well yeah, ton of players not playing. Not sure why you'd want to judge based on this roster. They beat the Oilers, enjoy it.

Tomorrow I can enjoy the anniversary of the resurrection, and the dinner that comes with it, in peace.

Either all 5 players or 1 player and a goalie would have turned the tide for the Flames in that battle.

In a scrum like that and with McDavid within reach of it... I would prefer it if someone would have just turned and punched him in the face over and over again till they were stopped by the refs. They go after our goalie with dirty punches... we go after their star with the same.

What battles? What are you even talking about? Go watch the replay and point out the players who saw the Lucic slash on Gio and didn’t do anything.

And what should they have done if they did see? Play was ongoing and ref didn’t blow it dead. Drop their gloves from 30 feet away ignoring the play and chase after Lucic? Definitely what I want to see Backlund doing out there.

But then again Smitty did stick up for him. Oh but he’s a fragile goalie and apparently that doesn’t count.

And then when Lucic hit back at Smith, on an altercation Smith friggin started, the rest of the team were magically supposed to know what was happening behind the play, push the linesmen and refs to the ice even though they stepped in quickly and jump Lucic.
Absolutely,
When Lucic starts throwing punches at your goalie, despite him "starting it", you jump in and start throwing retaliatory punches at Lucic.

You stand by the goalie no matter what happened

We don't have a player that would do that and that's the problem.

You beat up the linesman first? Stone tried to get to him
