It is hard to show creativity in a system that demands the rigidity that the Flames play. You aren’t going to be able to show a whole lot of creativity when you are almost always attacking a team whose defensive scheme has been allowed to setup. Gulutzan should have been sacked in December. The Flames reap what they have sown.

This season defines epic fail.
Same here. Some seasons have been baaad. But none quite like this. Unbelievable.

And not a word from senior management or ownership. Maybe they will wait to April 8 or 9 (hey - just realized I'll be in Calgary - maybe I should go to the last game?).....

My concern is that they will do nothing and "stick with the process" - seems to be their mantra, even when it's not working. Maybe especially when it's not working, which has been rather clearly the case all frickin' year after the break, and even mostly before it, except for that wonderful run. What the heck does it take for them to do something?

This is by far the worst season I have ever witnessed and not only for on ice issues.
1. The epic failure of releasing a "new" jersey set that was essentially the same as the tired, old, outdated set we've used for over a decade.
2. The whole arena crap
3. Having to endure watching Gulutzan's terrible system
4. The failure down the stretch for this team to show any life.
5. Not having a first round pick to look forward to.

My dream scenario is for ownership to put this team up for sale and sell them to a local owner that's willing to build a winner and to work with the city to negotiate an arena deal. Edwards and company are a bunch of clueless morons.

He has to have uttered that phrase at least a dozen times this season and epic collapse at the end notwithstanding look at the number of points we're shy. The math isnt hard.

This is pathetic. I feel bad for guys like Gio and Hamilton and Smith who gave it all season long and now they're going out like this? Its embarrassing. I wouldnt pay to watch this. I wouldnt watch this for free.

I hope the last home game is empty.

Careful. Some would say that would make Flames fans as bad as Panthers fans for not supporting the team when they're losing.

I dont have a problem supporting the team when they're losing, Lord knows I've done it enough, but this whole 'quitting on the season early' BS I have no patience for.

This isnt because they're losing, its because they're not even trying. The team checked out 2 weeks ago and if they can do that then it seems only fair that the fans can too.

You have to be quite the masochist to even watch, never mind go to, a Flames game right now.

exactly, and this is why I can't understand why they aren't canning GG immediately. What are they waiting for? More losses to increase our draft chances? Oh wait.

Okay. At the moment I'd wager thats a pretty lonely opinion.

you don't think the Backlunds, Froliks, Hamiltons, Bennetts, Jankowskis and so on are more talented than what they currently show?

I see a team that is going to through the motions and, as a whole, has tuned out their coach. Yes, there are some core injuries and some of the players are certainly trying, but it's not even close to being good enough. The turds they have been laying on the ice in pretty much every game lately are just unacceptable.

I see some individuals trying, but not a "Team effort" where everyone is pulling the same way hard.

I agree that when you're missing half of your top 6 that goals are going to be hard to come by. I will also grant that this team is getting a stunning lack of luck around the net.

But I don't believe I've seen the "f this" we're going to do what it takes to at least be relevant.

Maybe they're shell shocked, maybe they just want this to end, in fact I'm going to say that both are likely.

But its now a question of going out on your back in bed or going out swinging your sword and defiantly telling everyone to f off. I'm seeing very little defiance from the players or the coaching staff.

We're going to have a losing season this year 35-37-10. I don't see us winning another game. No 1st round pick. What a crappy year.

There are still a lot of good players out there. Backlund, Frolik, Bennett, Gio, Dougie, Ferland.

What I am seeing are a bunch of good soldiers executing the same old game plan. Check out the shots on net. High. Again. All the boxes checked. Lots of looks no luck etc.

Almost like its the same no matter who GG throws out there. Only difference being our truly elite players aren't there to make magic out of this ####.

Honestly it's pretty insulting that gulu hasn't been publicly fired yet. Im starting to warm up to the idea of firing treliving too. The stink must be washed away

When is the last time the flames won anything of substance? Yet we're all still here.

Right now the team on the ice is the worst roster in the NHL, and worse...they know and believe it.

There likely are AHL teams who could beat this group right now.

Hopefully this demonstrates how much more building that this team needs to do, and influences Ownership and Management to stop these hasty trades where they part with so many picks to try and accelerate things right now.
