Poor roster is true... but there are still some pieces that should be better and timbit mentioned it earlier and he's absolutely right.

Bennett, Jankowski, Backlund, Frolik... like come on guys. You're not all THAT bad. Do something out there, make a move. Say F the system and show us what you can do.

Giordano... it's not like these still aren't all NHL players.

It comes down to wanting it, and even though you're out, you need to show people you want it. It's your job and you're making hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars a year to do it. Like come on.

In the meantime, I kind of can't get over how it's funny at the same time. Just so, so... so bad. Crazy terrible. Hopefully we all look back at this time and laugh.

It's like watching a 300 car pile up on Deerfoot and you sit back and say geez, this is crazy bad! There's no way this could get any worse. And then a lightning storm rolls through and blasts the area, causing mass fire. Cars exploding. Woah. Okay NOW it can't get any worse. Then Godzilla comes in... that's what this is kinda like for Flames fans.

You just have to laugh. I mean feel sad. For sure, lots of sadness. But laugh.

I keep going back to the start of the season when virtually every hockey publication predicted this to be a top 3 D core league wide.

You’re telling me everyone was wrong and 5 guys suddenly and simultaneously forgot how to be top NHL defencemen?

No way. These guys were put in a position to fail.

GG has wasted two years of my entertainment life.

I agree. We have a great top pairing and two guys on the second pairing who are good hockey players but underachieved. Like you said, Brodie and Hamonic didn’t magically become bad at hockey. I think this system really handcuffs the D, whereas Hartley’s engaged them a lot more.

Hartley probably had to go, but they really whiffed on his replacement.

The publications got both Alberta teams wrong, Oilers were cup contenders.

Lots of criticism sent up north about being a one trick pony ... apparently not much depth in talent down in the south here either. That - aside from the total collapse in March - is a real concern going into the off season. Wow this is bad.

The secondary scoring has been awful and along with coaching is the biggest reason we missed the playoffs.

Bennett, Frolik, Jankowski, Lazar, Brouwer, Stajan have all had mediocre years offensively and I am sure Treliving expected more.

We could see significant turnover this summer

I know the roster is decimated but this is pathetic. We've all seen bad teams hang around in games they had no business being in because they made up for a lack of talent with effort, or at least playing smart. Does the coach have a strategy that might help with damage mitigation or is it just whatever now? They are pretty much getting steamrolled every game.

My cousin attended his first flames game tonight and was really excited to see the flames fire when we scored.
I was convinced he wasn't going to get to see it.

Sit the coach for the rest of the games. Let Gelinas (sp) run the bench.

Well that was fun. Mostly I slept while watching the game. My only real thing was to see if Columbus got 5 before the Flames got 1. That happened.

Hard to watch seriously. The Dome was impressively quiet and empty.

The oilers are very similar to the sad sack years with Iggy winning the scoring race, and the team in the bottom 3rd.
This year, the team is a coach killer, except I think Glenny killed his own job.
Management should have seen that the coach lost the team earlier.

After the first goal, you knew the team was in for a long night.

Training camp this year was probably the most excited I have been for a Flames season in a long time.

And here we are.

Well, that was nothing short of a disappointment to be at. Even the 'give an suv away game' was full of fail.

At least I enjoyed the company and a night out.

Also, a plug for Naina's Kitchen. Had a pretty decent burger there, pre-game. If you like Stuffed Burgers, may what to have a look at it.
