In fact, I prefer it that way.

Any concerns have and what unnerves me is what that officer’s family must be going through now.

Literally nowhere in this thread is anyone being sympathetic towards the shooter.

Well, it satisfies your bloodlust better than due process.

No one in this thread has stated that they have respect for the shooter. The rest of your post just seems like a way to get Jason Kenney to blow you.

one of the enws stations showed a picture from outside the hospital the toehr day and the amount of police cars in front of the hospital was stunning. I get that some units may have been there for other matters, and I also get the brotherhood thing, but seems like lots of units there.

also surprised that there still seems to be very little news on the deceased. I am somewhat curious as to what may have drove him to do this.

I believe ASIRT is still investigating, so you likely won't hear anything until they are done.

They are still determining how he died as well....so nothing will be released until that is clarified.

Not to sound gruesome or anything but by the looks of the garage fire, they may still be working on just identifying him.

Not me, he killed a young girl and tried to kill a cop, would prefer my tax dollars go to better things than feeding a waste of flesh for the next 25 years

There are places in the world where criminals are executed without due process. We tend to refer to those countries as "####holes." There's a strong correlation between an indifference to the loss of human life, and a bunch of other really ugly values and behaviours in a society. Personally, I like what we've got going on here in Canada.

It is a little concerning in less than a week we have seen a couple incidents of people going out guns blazing. Probably not a giant leap thinking illegal/stolen handguns were used.

Great news that police officer was not seriously injured. Unfortunate for that young woman’s family as they will never really have an answer as to why.

As an aside, that guy looked like a complete bag. I am thinking he was looking to die ina blaze of gunfire. But I am just guessing.

Apparently a bullet grazed his head. Despite this guy not being from that area, that whole region is rough. A lot of serious RCMP incidents starting with the Mayerthorpe tragedy from over a decade ago, and also the Travis Vader saga (Vader is from around there).

I am all for due process but when a guy shoots at a cop, due process is served when the cop fires back, especially a successful shot. Good riddance to this prick. I hope a speedy recovery for the officer involved.

No, you're clearly not for due process because either you don't seem to grasp what it is or you're just making a word salad to justify your bloodlust. You may as well just own it rather than trying to sanitize it.

Whatever man. When someone shoots a cop in the head and then officers return fire and kill him....that is due process IMO.....maybe not literally or how it is written in Canadian law, but he got what he was due to him. You call it what you like and i will call it what I like. It's the beauty of opinions. You disagree with mine and let everyone on here know. Good on you. I don't care. You can have your bleeding heart opinion and i will stick with mine. One dead piece of #### that the courts don't need to worry about and the govt doesn't have to support for twenty five plus years (after he got his "due process" on the original murder charge).

What is due process in this case? We have RCMP officers wearing cameras on their chests, with cameras in their cars. A fellow officer is shot in the head and they return fire. One dead piece of #### and injured officer. It is probably all on camera. THE RCMP will evaluate the tapes and it will be released the officers did the right thing.

Do you really think any of the RCMP who know the officer who was shot, or was there on scene, are looking for due process? No because this murdering prick got what we deserved. Justice was served.

Why does the kid deserve a day in court for attempted murder of an officer? He doesn't. He doesn't deserve what you are terming "due process" for this crime.

I am not sanitizing anything, I owned what i have said. This kid deserved "due process" on his murder charge for the young girl he murdered. I am not saying he deserves to die because he murdered someone who couldn't fight back. He made the mistake of trying to murder someone who could fight back. He doesn't deserve your brand (the literal brand) of "due process" for shooting at an officer. Justice was served when the officers fired back. Good riddance!!!!
