When I was last back in Calgary the new things I was most impressed with were St George's Island, the ring road, the airport terminal, Popeyes Chicken, and the proliferation of Shawarma.

The Downtown skyline. It's actually been rated pretty high in recent years. Compared to how it was even 10 years ago, it's pretty amazing how far it has come.
Most people here think nothing of it or barely talk about it. But I often find myself admiring it as I drive/walk facing towards downtown.

Around 80,000 vehicles per day now... I think the secret is out. |

I would argue that even it is a big improvement, Stoney Trail is still not perfect until the loop is FULLY closed (22x to Glenmore that is currently being built, but the COP to Glenmore section doesn't even get funding yet)...

Just an FYI, these beauties are going up where the old YWCA currently is:
I'm liking the way the East Village is coming together. Out with the old, in with the new.

I rode the south loop of it Nose Creek to bow river pathway through fish creek last summer the section around Erin Woods (I think) was under massive construction, so you kind of had to find your way back to the pathways. The south section is around 65km (from my house in Renfrew and back through mission), and I think the whole thing is just over 100km.
