Thanks, I have a friend who owns a rental place in Abbeydale and he is out of town, just wanted to make sure one of his tenants hadn't gone loopy.

I had no idea a community named Abbeydale even existed. The east side of the city may as well be Timbuktu or Narnia.

Glad to hear the PoS is DoA

Abbeydale? I can understand some of these new communities that seem to be popping up on a yearly basis on the outskirts, but most people have a pretty decent understanding of the city's communities if they've lived here for years.

How long have you been here?

Over 30 years.....remember couple years back when I did a Kijiji transaction in Applewood. I swore the seller was making it up and that I was going to be murdered in the world's most fake sounding community. Turns out it was a real community.....still thought I was going to get murdered there though.

Anything residential East of Deerfoot and North of Glenmore is all Greek to me.

The head of the Calgary Police Association identified the injured officer as Jordan Forget and said he is in stable condition.

Tense times for some of my family members. Things are fine now.

Now to remember the injured officer also has family that must be beside themselves.

Thanks for your service officer Forget and get well soon.

Here is the aforementioned Calgary Herald video of officers frantically trying to save him and loading into the ambulance. Not graphic, but distressing.

NSFW!

Just watched footage of police officers stripping the officer who was shot.
It was disturbing watching them work frantically to get off his vest as the ambulance rolled up.
Hopefully the officer does make a full recovery as a spokesman said just now he's no longer in serious condition. Thank god.

I contemplated not posting the video but the female officer at 1:08 when she puts her hand on her knees and puts her head down for a second after watching him go, then it's quickly back to work. That sequence is amazing and speaks volumes about how heroic these people are. Maybe I'm looking too far into it.

What is wrong with being ok that a violent criminal wielding a gun and trying to steal a car, who then shoots a cop, is dead? It's just too bad he didn't light himself up before shooting the officer. Though even that isn't great as he then puts innocent lives and firefighters at risk.

Calgary, Alberta, Canada, as of 2013, has 198 neighbourhoods, which are referred to as "communities" by the City of Calgary...

There are more identified neighbourhoods in this city than there are countries in the world. Tough to remember where everything is sometimes.

Yeah, a real pity he couldn't be rehabbed/rehabilitated.

He was a bad guy...no question.

It does behoove us to remember though that its likely there are parents/brothers/sisters etc. out there that lost someone today, regardless of the circumstances.
