BT has been a bit hit and miss...
on contracts and cap management, i think he's been pretty solid...
Trades have been hit and miss for me to be honest...though i lean more toward good over bad (barely)
not sure if true, but if he didn't lottery protect the 1st rounder headed to NYI on the Hamonic trade, i'd be pretty disappointed... seems like that should be practically boiler plate to have that clause, esp for team that squeaked into the playoffs last year...
the hiring of GG was perplexing when it happened, and is more perplexing with every game he coaches...
i wouldn't be upset if BT got canned, but not expecting it this year.

I think the Oilers would have offered the picks to the Islanders unprotected for Hamonic. They thought they were contenders. Islanders would have preferred Calgary picks cause everyone thought the Oilers were the second coming of Christ last summer. Just a guess.
It's not like BT didn't want to lottery protect the pick...they obviously said no and were likely considering other offers. BT took a risk to get the deal done...didn't pan out this season but Calgary still controls the asset.

This thread is a ricardodw dream come true. The chance to trash talk the Flames' core. He lives for this kind of crap.

Bring back Bob Hartley and let him decide who stays and who goes from top management down to the players and coaches.

Not lottery protecting that pick may be what gets him fired

again he didn't just choose not to lottery protect it...very likely the Islanders had a similar deals out there and that is what he felt he had to do to make it happen
Besides, BT won't be getting fired anytime soon

They just don't teach patience any more. Three years and some people think it's time for a change.

I don’t think he gets fires but if that puck finds itself in the top 3 there is potential he gets canned.
Treliving put his chips in the middle this year and the team took a step back. The Flawed roster where he failed to address a need for scoring was hard to fix with little to no trade capital this deadline.
Treliving told fans that we needed to address the top 4 and goaltending first and foremost. Those moves have not helped the team become a lock down D squad and goals are hard to come by.
Treliving also made the mistake of hiring Gulutzan who has been a horrible coach for the last 2 years.
I don’t want Brad to be fired and while I think he is likely safe I am not so
sure he is as secure as you think.

Kind of an ironic statement, considering more than a few people feel the Flames lost patience by trading away so many picks.

Luckily our ownership is too cheap when it comes to fromtboffice personnel to pay tre and someone else and presumably a real coach too

I guess, if those who feel the Flames lost patience are suffering from little to no patience now with regards to Treliving. I'm not sure how much overlap between groups there is if any.

Yeah and that's the problem.
Hamonic is so underwhelming yet Treliving decided to pay that much and not lottery protect that pick. It was a horrible trade and more.

If the pick ends up in the top 3 it because of a lottery ball.
That would be an idiotic reason to fire someone. If the ball spits out 12 he keeps his job but if it is 3 he gets fired?
Sorry that's dumb.

Fenton is supposed to take over from Poile in Nashville. Problem is Poile keeps hanging on, even though he's almost 70. I expect if they win the Cup, Poile will step down and Fenton will take over.

His career doesn't rest on a lottery that has the Flames at a 9% chance of picking top 3. Anyway, I said he won't be fired anytime soon not that he has a lifetime contract. No way BT is fired before next season
Another playoff miss and then I could see it potentially depending on factors

The other guy that is similar to Fenton is Mark Hunter who seems to have grown into an all world scout.
Don't know if he would be a great GM. Is he a GM in the making, or more of a Dave Conte type (the guy from NJ not sure if I got his name right)

Depends where the pick falls...teams have given up firsts for far less. 5 or 6 teams gave up firsts for rentals at the deadline and a maximum of one of them will win the cup.
Hamonic is a still solid asset that the Flames control
If by a horrible stroke of bad luck its a top three pick well...BT will say FML

I think I'm just going to put this here, for those who think Treliving should be blamed for team trades:
