Not if they are somehow able to get Simmonds or Eberle+ for him. But I don't see why anyone would be willing to trade those players for him...

What if you could get a Ruslan Zaynullin for him?

As bone headed as keeping him and continue to lose games because of his blunders? Brodie is in addition by subtraction territory.

The name of the game is self explanatory. I'm wondering what everyone thinks, here is mine:

CENTRES
11 Mikael Backlund - keep
46 Marek Hrivik - let walk
77 Mark Jankowski - re-sign
23 Sean Monahan - keep; untouchable
25 Nick Shore - re-sign
18 Matt Stajan - let walk

LEFT WINGS
93 Sam Bennett - keep
79 Micheal Ferland - keep
13 Johnny Gaudreau - keep; untouchable
15 Tanner Glass - let walk
19 Matthew Tkachuk - keep; untouchable

RIGHT WINGS
36 Troy Brouwer - Trade retained salary or buyout summer 2019
67 Michael Frolik - trade
21 Garnet Hathaway - re-sign - 800k or less. If not let him walk
20 Curtis Lazar - keep
8 Chris Stewart - let walk
10 Kris Versteeg - let walk

DEFENSE
44 Matt Bartkowski - let walk
7 T.J. Brodie - trade
5 Mark Giordano - keep
27 Dougie Hamilton - keep; untouchable
24 Travis Hamonic - keep
61 Brett Kulak - keep
26 Michael Stone - trade

GOALIES
33 David Rittich - keep
41 Mike Smith - keep

Head Coach: Glen Gulutzan - fire
Ass. Coach: Dave Cameron - fire
Ass. Coach: Paul Jerrard - indifferent
Ass. Coach: Martin Gelinas - indifferent
Goal Coach: Jordan Sigalet - indifferent
GM: Brad Treliving - keep

For ease I left out the video coach and various management roles.
I agree with almost everything you said other than I don't see the need to buyout Brouwer unless Treliving makes a huge splash in the off season and signs Tavares. Cap wise it smarter to buy out Brouwer summer 2019

Can people stop mentioning Tavares, he’s not coming here. Don’t even think about him coming here, Flames have historically never been able to land the biggest FA and after this year how would they convince the biggest UFA of the last 5-10 years to sign here.

He's had a rough season, no doubt. But he has shown flashes and if management wants to trade away quality pieces when they struggle, they will remain bottom dwellers for a very long time.

You pretty much said that the whole season falls on Brodie's shoulders, that's just wrong. And if the Flames live or die by Brodie's game, then he has a lot more value than I thought.

This season is more to do with goals for and you don't have to look any further than the powerplay.

Which is why we don't buy out Brouwer yet. More than likely Treliving won't spend enough this off season to make sense out of wasting cap space 3 years from now

Also picking up top notch free agents since the cap vs before the cap is completely different. You could make a case Jay Bo was the biggest UFA available the year the Flames signed him. It didn't work out but teams would have been lining up for him

I can think off the top of my head four games that Brodie's blunders cost us. That is 8 points which would put us two points up on the Kings. I am not saying the reason we are missing the playoffs is soley on Brodie but he certainly was one of the reasons why.

Burke should be added to the discussion, I don’t know if he adds anything...other than truculence of course...

Lots of fans are laughing at Calgary these days. Ship out as many soft players as they can. The only untouchables should be Johnny and Tkachuk. This team needs players with speed, skill and grit not one dimensional soft players. Time to ship them out!

Everybody gets put on notice as we cannot have comfortable bodies playing here.

We already have had a country club atmosphere, coach killer players and just general incompetence employed by the Calgary Flames.

I'm tired of mediocre. I'd rather be in the playoffs yearly and get swept if need be so that we know who performs well under real pressure when it matters.

Yeah it's a long season but players need to have some sense of urgency as well as be accountable for abysmal performances.

That's enough from me .

Would love it if the Flames could find a way to acquire Sebastian Aho from the Carolina Hurricanes. Boom!!! There’s your top line right winger!!

I am so done with the lack of heart in Johnny. Sure the kid can score, but he quits on plays so often if he gets a slash or a check.
At least sit the kid for a game or two.

And boom, there goes Matthew Tkachuk to Carolina because that is what it would take. I will pass.

And we have hit insanity mode here when people start talking about dealing our franchise player. Johnny is all heart, you can see the emotion and how bad he wants to win. I never see this quit you speak of.

The plan should be simple. Tre has done a decent job putting together the most difficult ingredient... top end talent.

Need to do some shuffling in the bottom six and an addition in the top six ideally. Perhaps some more sandpaper on the blue line. I think this team really missed Engelland this year.

But above all we need to see what the core of this roster can do with a respectable coaching staff. Nothing big should be done until this is evaluated.

Here goes mine

I would fire the entire coaching staff. Everyone, I would offer Gelinas another position.

Brad would also go, I really struggled on this one but the fact he did not lottery protect that pick is a fire able offence.

CENTRES
11 Mikael Backlund - keep
46 Marek Hrivik - let walk
77 Mark Jankowski - re-sign
23 Sean Monahan - keep; untouchable
25 Nick Shore - re-sign
18 Matt Stajan - let walk

LEFT WINGS
93 Sam Bennett - keep, try to motivate. Last chance with team
79 Micheal Ferland - keep
13 Johnny Gaudreau - keep; untouchable
15 Tanner Glass - let walk
19 Matthew Tkachuk - keep; untouchable

RIGHT WINGS
36 Troy Brouwer - buyout
67 Michael Frolik - Keep only because I think he is untradeable at that cost
21 Garnet Hathaway - AHL/NHL
20 Curtis Lazar - Keep and give him some actual time on a better line.
8 Chris Stewart - Keep, like this guys game as a 4th liner etc
10 Kris Versteeg - Time to move on.

DEFENSE
44 Matt Bartkowski - let walk
7 T.J. Brodie - Keep unless the return is so good (it wont be)
5 Mark Giordano - keep unless someone is willing to give up a stud for him
27 Dougie Hamilton - keep; untouchable
24 Travis Hamonic - keep
61 Brett Kulak - keep
26 Michael Stone - Keep
GOALIES
33 David Rittich - keep
41 Mike Smith - keep untouchable
