didnt watch this particular game but saw the "highlights". Anyone who thinks the Hamonic trade was a solid move, i dont see it. I realize players have bad games but it seems like a lot of his games are not that great... seems like a great guy but that doesnt win games. he isnt alone but this team needs draft picks not an underperforming d man.
I'm going to stick up for Hamonic here.
Brodie has been brutal. Plain and simple. The guy is constantly having to attempt to make up for his boneheaded plays.
Is he worth what we paid? Probably not. But he's not the issue on that pairing.

This thing is over, they might bounce back against the Yotes, but I have my doubts now, this team knew in the last about 38 minutes that their season was pretty much on the line tonight, and their response level was 0.
It might not be mathematical at this point. But to borrow from the Edmonton thread.
With Dallas and LA on track for 98 points, and Calgary trailing the ROW to both teams they need 99 points to make it.
In order to get to 99 points the Flames need in the last 9 games a record of 9-0-1
Which is impossible.
What a disappointing season. This Flames team is like me growing up, when I got my report card and got home and gave it to my dad, and he took one look, shook is head and said, "I thought you were a lot better then these grades."
I expect that realization is going to sink in, and sink in in a hurry, and we are going to see some flat, don't give a shyte, we feel sorry for ourselves hockey.
I don't even care if the Flames have some remarkable run but miss the playoffs by a point, they played entitled hockey all season.

Might be in the sense that they're not showing up for these big games. I was away from my radio at the moment he said it so I'm not entirely sure what he said exactly.
I mean it’s not rocket science that Brouwer is likely an issue. For some reason he has a completely in earned A still stitched onto his game day jersey... I could see some teammates getting a bit sick of that after ~148/160 games being an anchor to whoever he is on the ice with
Only question now is how high a pick do the Islanders get
If the Islanders get Dahlin, Andrei Svechnikov, Filip Zadina or Brady Tkachuk with our lottery pick I'll probably do a nose dive off the center street bridge into the most shallow section of the bow river
Watched the first period and thought the Flames were decent - not perfect, but decent. A few good chances, a few whiffs at open nets, but that happens. Definitely felt that "something" would happen and Vegas would score. Didn't happen - so far so good.
Then came the bone-crusher and it all went to hell in a handbasket...Flames just crumbled. Gave up a goal and folded like a bad poker player.
Spent the third period drinking wine and not watching hockey. Seemed appropriate. Pretty much figured they wouldn't score and was right.
Beats me what the brain trust of the Flames will do in the off-season. Without spending money on coaching, they're doomed to the same crap, regardless of personnel. Toast Burke, GG etc. and hire Q - it's got to work out "similar" enough in cash terms not to matter too much.
Glad I'm no longer a STH - I couldn't stand it. And this brand of hockey isn't going to help KK and Murray Edwards with the fans who need to pay for a new arena either. (Though Edmonton was stupid enough so who knows?)
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.
(apologies to Mr Shakespeare)
Seemed to be saying that if he was at the helm (and as he says "thank goodness he's not") that a lot of the decisions he'd have to make this summer are going to be a lot easier after seeing what he's seen around the team in the last little bit - definitely spoke cryptically.
That would be really disappointing and would be on guys like Gio and the rest of the lettered guys.
You want to shake things up, trade your captain.

Time to bring up the AHL team and let these millionaires watch from the press box. Let's see what we've got in our system as it may help with filling the 12 vacancies that we should have on this roster over the summer. Let's go full Vegas and rebuild all at once.
Most of you can blame GG all you want but the makeup of this team really sucks. It's not competitive like a top 8 team. There 42 shots where most of them came in the first period and half. Most of those shots came from the perimeters and there is absolutely no drive to the front of the net. The only guy you see is Ferland trying to block Fleury's view on some plays. Other than that, you get plays trying to make the fancy passes getting picked of by oppositions. It's not just this game but for many games this season. When the team plays well, they're frickin unstoppable. So, you can't blame GG at all for a wasted season. A lot of players just can't get it done. I think Treliving really need to look at a proper rebuild rather than a quick and dirty build just to barely make the playoffs year after year. The goal should be too challenge for the cup rather than just to make the playoffs.
If the Islanders get Dahlin, Andrei Svechnikov, Filip Zadina or Brady Tkachuk with our lottery pick I'll probably do a nose dive off the center street bridge into the most shallow section of the bow river
At the end of the day to me, and my slide to I don't care that much status (Is that a status on the facebook by the way?).
Things like that don't mean much to me.
When I got my new Shaw box with the cool sports stat stuff and it asked me to pick my favorite team to follow in NHL I left it blank
