No kidding, it was obvious after the 5th goal that Smith wasn't feeling it tonight. At that point we're only down by 2, yeah it's grim but manageable. Why not come back with Rittich in the 3rd to spark something? Brutal

Do they have Safeway score and win in California? You just know Kane will score a 5th.

How can it not be GG's fault, one can say not ALL his fault. Yes, Smith is bad this game, he let in softies. But isn't it the coach's decision to pull a goalie that let in softies? If GG had pulled Smith after the third goal, the game was still tied. Yes, Rittich might let the remaining goals in as well. But he might stand on his head and not let any goal in. For a must win game, the coach manage the game very poorly.

I hear you, I've wanted another scoring forward for two years now but we spent a 1st and 2 seconds for Hamonic. I like him but that price should have been paid for a scoring forward. Well Tre better work some magic this offseason

I’m not as pissed as I thought I would be...
They’ve been consistently inconsistent all season, mostly to their detriment.
It feels like this was going to be the outcome, no matter what.
Looking forward to what Brad does.
The Flames need new coaches and changes on the team, and they need to take a hard look at what they have. I am in no way opposed to dealing one of Brodie or Hamilton. The forward group needs addressing front the bottom up, including a shooter for Johnny. Goaltending remains a grey area too. It’s a lot of work for one summer. I hope he’s ruthless.

I don't want a single player traded until we get a new coaching staff.

Uhh... it was obvious after goal 1 that Smith was iffy. By goal 3 it was confirmed. Everything after that I heap onto the damnation of GG.

I agree we need a coaching change in the offseason, but GG doesn’t own this brown bag of dog turd.
|
Recognizing that his goalie didn't have it tonight, and pulling him to shake things up BEFORE it got too far out of hand would have helped.
But nothing from the bench, as usual.
Obviously not all on him (mostly on Smith and some terrible D). But Gulutzan's failure to deal with the situation is also a big contributing factor.

Unless GG defenders argue that there is no coaching involved in a 5 on 3 power play, that was a terrific example of terrible strategy.
2 guys below the goal line, and nobody playing their one timer side.
That’s just crazy.

What makes you think they have any confidence in their ability to get back in the game?
